We are looking at spending summer in Tassie and taking our 2 dogs with us. I have concerns about putting them in cages for I guess about 14 hours all up.
We have a Tvan camper so can't leave them in their for the journey. Just wanting other peoples experiences with doing the same trip.
Our other choice is I go on the boat with car and camper and my other half flies over the next day with the dogs as excess baggage. Has anyone done it this way?
We know this will be the most expensive way to go, but concerned about the dogs and the chance that at the other end they will be covered in their own Wee, poo and possibly vomit
They will be fine. Nice roomy cages and more settled with other dogs rather than locked up alone in camper etc. Just supply comfortable bedding. I have traveled on the Spirit many times with my dogs and always in the cages provided. I am very fussy re the care and comfort of my dogs. Cheers Allen
Sorry! I should have addressed all of your concerns. Walk and exercise them prior to boarding with them to allow them to empty out. Suggest not to feed for at least eight hours prior to sailing and you will have no problem. Water is provided in cages and you can offer a hearty meal at the end of journey. Doing the above I have never had an issue. Cheers
