Losing night power

Not sure if I should answer any posts on these forum anymore because it seems to upset too many people when I defend an attack, so maybe better I don't post so I can't be attacked and the members here can contact me via PM if they want any direct assistance from me. Seems many have already chosen this method because they don't want to be part of the nonsense that occurs on these threads.
It might be a loss of free information for many readers but it seems the better course of action to follow because I really don't enjoy the continual put downs by those who should know better.

My opinion Terry is very hnowledgeable in what he does ,but a mechanical background is not an electrical back ground ,it will touch on certain aspects of it, but for my money The fully qualified auto electrician thats working on 12volt systems every day of the week solving problems associated with 12 volt stuff, and installing every thing 12 volt related full time ,thats is where the real knowledge and experience is ;its his trade ,hes the real expert, its just common sense surely...

Sorry, can't agree Ron-D about auto electricians always knowing how to do it right. Many trades and other workers do their job every day, and get it wrong. We have all seen it often. There have been many on here asking about solar/alternator/DCtoDC etc after auto electricians not doing it right. Many have absolutely no idea when it comes to this stuff.

I work with this stuff 7 days a week, that is what I do now because I can't do the mechanical or fitter stuff as a result of a motor vehicle accident 14 yrs ago. After getting screwed over by NRMA's CTP insurance I have to help cover the bills so I do the brain work in my wife's business which involves all things extra low voltage. You can't read yourself smart or type yourself smart, you actually have to do the stuff hands on to know what really does work and what is nonsense perpetuated by those who want to gain either brownie points or $$.

I was doing what I did here for free with no attempt to gain anything, but I was still attacked relentlessly by those trying to drown out anything that went against their ideas of how things are so they were the only ones left pouring their views out for all to read.

The same names do the same things on forum after forum, the silent majority have allowed them to do the same thing here. Those that know me know where you can find my posts and I'm always available via PM on this forum, unless the same people move to get me banned here as well.

Many people on those other forums , know why you got kicked off ,after many warnings!!!

I doubt that anyone actually sort your banning ,it was the decisions of  the moderators.

Your problem on those forums ,as on this one ,was your refusal to accept  long established electrical principles   and your constant denigration of all who did not comply with your ideas,

Many of those where /are highly qualified in the fields involved

Those ,who  are / have been members of those other forums will know who I am referring to.

I really find it sad .

As I have often pointed out ,you, by experimenting  [ AND, yes ,HANDS ON ] & no doubt  at some expense, have came up with a good combination of  equipment that works extremely well with LI BATTERIES

Again I would recommend any one wanting to go that way should contact you.

BUT that has blinded you to all other options.

But they should not take much notice of you on anything else, except  perhaps auto electrics  [ extra low voltage ripple free DC] ,for the simple reasons  that :

You seem to not understand all the principles involved

you are not  technically qualified

you are not & cannot be licensed

Interesting Peter, that is the very thing you argue with me the most. The fact that you are not licenced and can not be licenced and have been a very long time out of the trade doesn't seem to affect the fact you still think you know all there is to know on anything electrical and openly attack me when I disagree with anything you say.

Many of those that attacked me and were instrumental in having me banned from 2 forums (the only forums I've ever been banned from) have since repeatedly asked me for assistance via email .... the same people you are claiming are very qualified in their field ... just not the field I am more qualified in and that was always the issue, they couldn't handle not being the top dog.

No worries Peter, you can be the go to man on this forum as well, so you should at least be happy now eh. I seem to remember you being one of those members on the other forum whinging that I would not allow you on the private forum, I'm sure those that read the forums will understand why wink

Hi smile

As I have said before you two guys,Terry and Peter, do not know when to stop. At least two pages back would have been good.

There is only one way to show how "good" you are and that is to provide accurate simple answers to questions on 'solar' stuff or 'technical' stuff, if asked. Neither of you can do that without starting the BS and then it goes downhill from there IMHO.

The moderator should restrict your rants IMHO so the threads can get back to being useful again. I could often make technical comments on your content but choose to 'let it go' as it would only start the BS again.

HI
Cod Hunter
The blade fuse holders plastic or soft rubber ?? . The rubber style are the ones to use ,seal better and u can squash them ever so slightly so there is firm contact between the fuse and female spade terminals . The physically larger the fuse eg maxi the better but ideally fusable link /circuit breaker /midi fuse connected first at pos battery post . Proceed this to a Low volt disconnect then onto a fuse box.

Battery cable to fuse box   [This cable has protection and a LVD installed ]

The main supply cable should be oversize with a lower rated amp fused type  protection . To prevent cable over heating and damage to itself and prevent fire .

Cable oversizing is typically required anyways to have little volt drop as possible  at its rated operational amperage

Wiring individual circuits from fuse box is to achieve minimum volt drop with a marginal increase .

The individual circuit is fused to protect the wiring system from end user fault/excessive current draw than when normal operating  .

Charge the batteries fully with a quality charger and reassess there performance . This may lead to a capacity test .
Recommended
AC 240 volt charger at least 15--25amps multi stage charger. Works with small generator also .

Performance for solar is best with around 200watts of solar per 100-120ah battery . 200watts roughly 10amps is not a lot per 100ah--120ah battery .

Do u drive and charge batteries at the same time ?? Does your setup arrive at camp partly discharged ???

Hi Terry , I really don't know why you bother at times , you must realize by now that some people on these forums will constantly paint a bigger target on you . Ignore the guys that say it can't be done and concentrate on supplying good quality systems to those that listen to word of mouth from very satisfied customers . Good luck Ron. ( Bairnsdale)

Problem solved. I replaced the melted fuses with quality fuses close to the batteries. I thank you all for your advice. Safe travelling to you all.

Please stay on topic for the benefit of those that need advice, not those wanting to shout their experience.
