They departed their respective abodes at Shepparton, VIC and Mount Gambier, SA on Tuesday, 3rd April (after Easter) and met up at Georgetown, SA two days later for the Big Lap. Making the dart across South Australia and the Nullarbor and turning left at Norseman saw them effectively begin the Lap at Esperance. Following the Coastal fringe of the South-West and West Coast, and being the cheapskates as they are, they camped at National parks and other low, low cost camps. Working their way along the South Coast then up the West Coast towards Perth, and catching up with other Grey Nomads along the way, they have been leisurely beach camping and are soon to prop at Port Hedland for 3 days before moving on to Broome.
If anyone is in their vicinity and would like to join them for Happy Hour (4-6 hours normally) don't hesitate to make contact. They will also travel far and wide to join other Grey Nomads' Happy Hours.
They are currently at Cleaverville Camp and moving on to Hedland on Wednesday, and no doubt will catch up with more Grey Nomads.
Their itinerary of the Lap includes Broome, Derby, Kununarra, Darwin, Mt. Isa, Winton, Emerald and districts before heading South to the great lands of Winter cold.
There is a rumour that one or both may possibly re-abode at Greens Lake, VIC with other Grey Nomads during the Summer months, but that may remain a rumour until further other prevailing rumours. lol.
Further Lap adventures will be posted as they come to hand.

Glad to hear that you are still enjoying your visit, over here in the wild west
Last time I was at Port Hedland, the racecourse was $10 per night, payable at the Tourist Info Centre in town
They give you a ticket to put on your vehicle, before you camp, otherwise it is a fine for illegal camping
The racecourse only has drinking water (out of two taps at the entrance), and the dump point and toilets, are about 300 metres away
Hopefully I shall catch up again with both of you, at Greens Lake, around February 2019

Hi Tony, I am told that the turf/racecourse is free camping for 72 hours and that is where we are heading for on Wednesday. Cheers, I will update the camp site conditions when we get there. Look forward to catching up with you and Bev again over in the East. Also, cheers from Dave...the guy of few words! lol.

The rules for that place seem to change all the time, Richard
I have been there when it was free
But... About last August it was $10 a night, there was a sign near the water taps
Good to hear you are both still alive. I thought some wild west westerner must have got rid of ya's.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.
Hi Doug, we are heading Townsville way during our Lap and had hoped to catch up but, alas, you won't be there so Greens Lake is where a reunion will eventuate. Dave will be looking forward to return to his old stomping ground at Greens to catch up with the Grey Nomads. Will post further as our travels continue. Cheers for now from us.

You will both like the Derby area this time of year, about 30șC in the daytime, and around 15șC at nigh time
Further along the highway before you get to Kununurra, you will pass Doon Doon Roadhouse
Last year (I was not stopping, but I saw the sign, and therefore asked the question)
There is a part of the caravan park, which has no power, but is free camping
They ask you to have a meal at the servo, where you receive instructions about the ablution block
As a matter of curiosity, is Port Hedland racecourse free, or paid site

Hi Tony & Bev, thanks for the info and heads up of Derby to Kununurra. The free camp is always of interest.
As for Port Hedland, the Turf/Racecourse Club is FREE camping for 72 hours and strictly enforced. Great camp, fresh water, dump point and flushing toilets all centrally located. Some noise at night from the mining rail shunting yard nearby. A busy camp area when we were there. Best to get there before noon to get best facing spots.
Cheers for now.
Have not had a need lately to use the very sharp hatchet I possess, but you never know.

Did stop at Greens the other day to suss it out...6 camping, bus, vans, trailers. Cold as brass monkeys. Now berthed at home. Still waiting for Glenelg to disclose his whereabouts!
