EDS computer system

Hi I recently purchased an EDS computing system to use on a planned trip to the Kimberley. Sole purpose was to monitor real time fuel usage when towing, mainly to measure 80 km/h in 4th gear vs 90 km/h in 5th gear (Triton MN towing Jayco Journey). The 2 manuals are of poor linguistic standards and offer conflicting information! For instance, I am unable to open the screen that is used to enter engine size, tank capacity etc. Have not been able to find better User Manuals on internet. Has anyone out there have experience with this system or can direct me to a more user friendly manual? It looks like a handy tool but the manuals are beyond my comprehension.  rgds bosrob

Yes went through this with one,the best answer i could come up with was bin the eds and buy a scangauge. Not the answer you were lookong for i know but the eds just lacks a lot in the usability stakes.

Yep, buy a scanguage or ultraguage, that way you can monitor your ATF temps whilst towing, so I'm led to believe. I did look into the EDS and emailed the seller ( 4x4 supercentre) to see to if it would scan in real time (ATF). They emailed back & said it would not fit my 2015 model Pajero and that was that. It was just because the 2015 model was not listed on their website, but a 2014 was listed and its exactly the same and they still didn't answer my question to see if it scanned in real time. So don't expect to much help from them. Also from the Pajero forum I think the scanguage has it over the ultraguage. I think Berrima Diesel also sell the EDS, so maybe email them for assistance. They are supposed to be pretty good & the leaders in their field or so they recon.

An Android phone/tablet, a Bluetooth dongle and Torque software perhaps?

Thanks for the prompt response. I was coming to the same conclusion - a parting of ways at the bin. Pity. A half decent manual would have helped.

I second MikeH's recommendation. Torque is a superb package and they whole setup is easy to use. An added advantage is that if you (like me) are going to replace your existing 2DIN radio with an Android combined GPS all-in-one unit, you can use Torque on the unit and have everything easily to hand.

Has anyone got experience of fitting one to a Navara? I'm trying to find out if the Navara (2010 D40) uses Canbus for the steering wheel controls or if they are plain analogue.
