Hi everybody. Im wanting to put new vinyl flooring down in my campervan. There is old discolourd vinyl there which cant be taken up as it is stuck firmly to the floor. Do i need to glue the new vinyl down and if so what glue should I use. Any suggestions would be very welcome.. thanks Linz
My advice would be lay vinyl floor planks as they are a lot easier to fit and if one damaged youi can peel it out and replace just that panel , clean the floor really well with a white spirit and use a pressure sensitive glue . I manage caravan parks and do exactly that in the cabins we renovate. you can google how to lay them and trim them , you'll end up with a professional looking job . afterwards either use quad around the edges or just caulk it with silicon.
I've just fitted some marine carpet over original carpet and vinyl in ours . It sits down well over whole area. It's used as big mat No glue. Can easy be cleaned, bloomed or vacuumed .. One thing we likes about it . No chance of slipping . Which was an issue with previous vinyl ..

Not sure what 'blooming' is but the carpet would also be warmer underfoot on those chilly mornings.
Hate the stuff. It's a dedicated kitchen carpet with ultra short pile. It's a dust and dirt magnet. Looks OK but the Vinyl planks from Armstrong with a self adhesive back was so simple to fit and a quick once over with an Oates sweeper and job done. Occasional wet mop with a cleaner and all good.
When I was fitting it I used some card from the stationers to make templates for the fiddly cut out bits. Worked a treat and having a very hard surface my 45Kilo dog's claws don't mark it.
Moose . Yea broom ing . Ahh spell check !! Found ONE surface much easier to sweep out door !! Although we TRY to enjoy the day or time at a place without being tied up in cleaning full time !! Enjoy the life .

I'm with Mezza. vinyl planks on pressure sensitive glue, but get a small pail of adhesive as well to apply to floor, The self stick ones don't adhere too well in a moving vehicle, and result in lifting edges.
Sorry im a bit confused, are you saying to use both pressure sensitive glue and adhesive together. I have bought the self adhesive vinyl planks and was going to use the pressure sensitve glue as well but Id like to know how you would use adhesive too
I have bought carpet tiles from Bunnings at $5.40 each no need to glue down as they all lock in together, they are 50x50 so for less than $100 dollars including a couple of spares it works out well and is easy to lay.
