MOBILE PHONE PLANS........not again!

YEP!

I posted something in general the other day and made mention of no service these days, well,

On Thursday morning just gone I got a phone call on my mobile phone and a 03 number came up. I answered it and a young sounding bloke that I could even understand was on the other end. He asked if was Doug ???? and I replied yes. He then went on about how he would like to chat with me about my mobile phone and how happy I was with my current plan. He had noticed on my file that I was out of contract and could offer a much better deal now. Yeh sure!

Ok then, I decided I would humour him but be very carefull of what I said etc. He gabbled on about how he could offer me a plan with unlimited data but slowed down a lot after 40gb, unlimited calls and txts etc etc all for $69.00 per month, cheaper than what I pay now and with only 21gb data and the same as he offered with calls etc but no shared data with my wifi device. I showed a little interest.

Ok he said, lets see what we can do now for you. Yeh sure!. What is your birth date just to prove you are Doug ???? I quickly thought and said, how do I know you are actually from Telstra? He said he was in Brisbane but not Telstra, he was with some mob that does sales for Telstra and can offer better deals. Yeh sure!

Mmmm, he is in Brisbane but a number with 03 came up. I made an excuse and asked if he would ring back next day. 10.00am Friday was agreed on.

By lunchtime no return call. So, a Telstra shop is in down town Wonthaggi, south west gippsland VIC where I am as we speak so went to have a chat with them. I was greated by a very friendly and helpfull young lady that sat me down and chatted to me after I explained what had happened. It turns out the company that rang is legit and so is the offer. She even had a record of the call to me. She suggested I don't do that deal that she could offer me a better and safer deal for my needs.

I ended up going with a new 12 month plan and BYO phone. I got 35gb data, shared with my wifi device with same calls and txts etc for $30 per month cheaper than I pay now. I have always been with Telstra even before they were called that and didn't want to change.

So, there is good service out there, you just have to be lucky I spose. Thankyou Telstra Wonthaggi.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Doug, Do you mind sharing the number that phoned you because I have just barred an 03 number that constantly keeps calling me but when I answer they hang up. If your mob phone I'll know not to ignore it

Well done Doug. Because I spend a lot of time filling in surveys for dollars on my laptop I do end up with lots of emails and more than average mobile calls. We have to be careful re hackers etc BUT we also need to be aware of competition, and being a tight arse, there are great offers out there. Picking the wheat from the chaff is always the most difficult part.confuse

Aussie Paul. smile

your first point scares me ( He asked if was Doug ???? and I replied yes. )
for others reference NEVER use the word YES to these unknown callers as they can record that and use it as your agreement to sign up for something.in your case Doug that wasn't the case obviously, just a warning for others to be aware of.

When people ring and ask if I'm Mr Landy I normally just ignore the question and say whats more to the point who are you.

This is the way to do it!

Phone is in my partner's name, so when they ask "Is this Mr XXX?" I can honestly say "no, what is this call about?"

More often than not, the answer involves them wanting me to give them personal information, or buy their brand of solar panels, or something else!

At which point I simply hang up - end of!

Kept me with Telstra for sure Papou. All we did was just change the plan. I had to sign up for 12 months though but no problem.
