Mux and Dmax dash board storage hatch cover

Hi all,

I am a newby to this site, and to date ( its only been 2 months)  the proud owner of a new 2018 MU X. I want to make a comment to all of the MU X  and D max owners out there, in regard to the storage hatch which is located on top of the middle of the dash board. No matter what year of the vehicle none of the hatches I have tried open with out having to poke around trying to lift the hatch with one hand while pressing  the release button with the other. rry. I found a  simple solution which may be of benefit to those of you who have the same problem. I placed a small rubber O ring,  about the size of the O ring seal  found on the male end of the garden hose connection, a smaller one works just as well. Place it  flat on the inside at the end of the hatch cover near  the hinges. I t works a treat, one press of the release button and the hatch pops up with ease every time.

Thanks Klaus,
I have friends who have both the MUX & D-Max vehicles - I have passed it on to them.

Klaus, I have a simpler solution.

Just press the button gently, veeeery gently and the hatch will open every time!biggrin

People tend to poke the button too hard and then it will not open.

Be gentle Grasshopper! biggrin

Hi Juggenaut,

Try a slightly larger 0 ring. The one I used is about the thickness of the  0 ring on the hose connection, and a little larger in diameter.  I placed it between the ledge and the lid near one of the lifting hinges, but I also found it  pops the hatch if its in the middle between the two hatch hinges.  It worked for us, so I thought why not  mentioning it, but it seems it may not work for every one. Any way some one more than likely has another trick, other than pushing finger nails under the lid.
