Hello all, I have searched this forum and tried calling vehicle components (who haven't answered phone all day!), would like to know what bearings and seals are used in their hubs before pulling apart. The brake hubs are quite large as is the area where the bearings reside. I'm thinking parallel bearings as they are way too big for ford SL. Caravan is Boroma at ATM of 2.6 tonne, GTM 3.5 tonne.
Just found a receipt from when the van was last serviced, it says the seals were replaced(simplicity seals). Bearings must have been repacked. Did say new brake shoes.

You may need your chassis number (on my Jayco, it is welded on the top of the chassis) just back from the coupling. VC should be able to match your van & its bearings then.

Check the axle load capacity on the vin plate. 2900kg should be ford bearings. 3200kg should be slimline parallel. No guarantees though, might have been changed. I just serviced a tandem boat trailer with 2 different axles.

You really need to remove bearings from one axle and read the part number on each inner and outer bearing. The stud composition i. e. 5 or 6 studs have no relevance to the bearing used usually. Most later model caravans are fitted with specific "trailer" bearings which to my understanding are of a greater load rating than similar size bearings to suit a motor vehicle.
Cheers for the input guys, finally got through to cruisemaster and they supplied the bearing and seal numbers. 12" hubs, inner bearing LM501349-310, outer bearing L68149-110, seal TC 12143. Regards Stretch

If you measure from the centre of one stud to the centre of the one next to it and then Google Wheel stud measurements it will tell you what hubs you have and then you can buy the bearings and seals. Most Jayco vans have Ford Hubs.
