Hmmmmm.....I have heard of owners of United servo declining to put that Diesel in their own car? Just saying.

Yep. Heard some stories about 18 months ago & no longer touch United. We filled up at Bairnsdale just under 3 years ago was the last time. Never again.

What was the problem fwdoz?

Aussie Paul. smile

The story going around was cases of dirty fuel at a few United outlets in Vic. There was also one United outlet in SE Vic where the wrong fuel got into the wrong underground tank, resulting in several buggered engines.

Hi Great stories that get around on the 'net biggrin My mates bro in law knew someone, who knew someone who---------     Hmmmm

I was filling up at United the other day in Newcastle and spoke to the tanker driver who was filling the tanks so I asked him where he was bringing the fuel from. He said it all came from the local Caltex depot. Same fuel as goes to the Caltex stations at ~20c more per liter.

Just saying, and my first hand information from a real source standing in front of me -----     hmm

Two people I know of were affected, so it is not all gossip as you would make it out to be. And they were compensated.

Gday...

The story is valid fwdoz ... however, it happened once back in December 2017.

Complete error when refilling the tanks apparently.

Not sure it could be used as justification to not use any United servos ever again.

cheers - John

The mix up wasnt the reason why John, it was the dirty fuel one which was kept quiet, apart from a small local rag article. This was where the 2 people I know of were promptly recompensed, obviously to keep it quiet.

The article you quote was a drawn out saga, but eventually people got their bills paid. At the start they tried to cover it up until the "oh hell, too many people copped it" saw them fess up.

Gotcha fwdoz. However, I have used United fuels in many, many locations over the past decade, and longer, and I have never encountered a problem.

But then, I have never encountered a problem with fuel from any servo of any brand in my driving life ... covering more than 50 years.

That includes many years in competitive motorsport - circuit, rally and go-karts - 4x4 driving all over the weirdest and far flung places - as well as camping and caravanning in every state of Straya. Using servos, jerry cans often and sometimes fuel from drums way outback.

I guess I should shaddup right now, coz that damned Murphy will be listening and will visit the next servo I pull into.

Cheers - have no idea if I am just lucky - John

I've used United at Bairnsdale several times, and also at Dandenong South with no issues. But knowing 2 people who had a bit of difficulty with them left a bit of a sour taste as to their handling of it & hence why I have shopped elsewhere.

And you are right, that bloody Murphy is the kiss of death. Go touch some wood before he comes knocking!
