Does anybody out there know if overnight stops are still permitted at this site? Had heard rumours that because of people abusing the privilege, overnighters were no longer allowed.
Cheers

You are only young once but, you can be immature for ever.
I would not advise that you try overnighting in the Trucks Only area though. Truckies are fed up with not having any space and have been known to call police to move tourists on.

Free Range Camping has included this Rest Area in our Free Camps category but campers need to be aware of the following: After consultation with NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), it appears they currently have no legislation relating to the use of Rest Areas for overnight stays. Whilst this Rest Area is known to be used by RVs for overnight stays, and publicised as such in various lists, campers should be aware that such use may be deemed illegal by them and subject to localised interpretation by authorities. We would further advise that the use of this area for overnight stays is to be considered limited to one night only unless local signage indicates otherwise. Free Range Camping understands that, in 2017, there is an intention to more closely define the use of Rest Areas on a National basis but until this is formalised campers should be aware of the possible implications and we would recommend taking note of any local signage. This Rest Area is for the use of light vehicles and heavy trucks; campers should be aware of not occupying or blocking access to the truck area and allow for access by very long vehicles where appropriate; this applies during all times of day or night.
This is a testimonial, with video showing the rest area -
