Thanks in Advance

I duuno, perhaps its just me, but I don't reply to "Thanks in Advance" signed threads. I read that as the poster putting up their request, then having an excuse not to have any further input, in other words, you guys get out there and do all the research for me.

I don't go into Bunnings, ask for assistance, and in the same breaths say "Oh by the way thanks in advance", or maybe I should, the other day I was there, and a young chap was helping me find a product, I waited and he was quite some time, checked stock levels, found the product in the inventory, but couldn't find it. We suspect it was taken off the self. I thanked him for the effort. If I had have said TIA. I could have just walked off as he took along time.

No I always try and respond to answers to my threads, and thank those who responded. No TIA for me.

Gday...

I hope your obfuscation, and my reading of it, helped you move on.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers - John

Rocky, shouldn't that have been thanks in arrears. Or is thanks in arrears the same as thanks. Bit of bundy thinking here. Cheers Pete

Iana, couldn't agree more with you. Common courtesy has gone out the window. Cheers Pete

Just want to say that I was not aiming at anyone on the forum, in fact its not bad with very few TIA's, whereas Wiki camps is full of it. I am just making a general statement.

I use it sometimes. But I hope I always thank people who have provided useful information.

It's a little difficult because if one thanks every response to a question then the thread becomes ridiculous and unmanageable.

It's just a quirk of speech (writing) don't take it too literally - judge people by their overall demeanour rather than a specific comment.

I agree if some one has gone to the trouble of sorting a problem out for you on here, and you dont respond its a pretty ignorant...
