Hmmm... these things should really be "Type approved" for use on the mobile network - I have little doubt this isn't.
It's a GSM device so check that it will work in Oz - I think we support some of the frequencies they mention but I'm not sure what the network status of GSM 2 is on those bands.

It should work on 3G on Vodafone, Optus and Telstra, according to the guys at Whirlpool.
At that price it's worth a burl, until they cease 3G at least.
A bit more expensive at $72 but a nice kit from an Oz supplier that specifically states Telstra/Optus/Vodafone. Operates on 12-24V and has an optional use external GPS aerial as well as the internal.
I appreciate Vodafone doesn't have the best coverage but they do a pre-pay recharge that lasts 365 days - stick $40 on the sim and you should be sorted!
