Time to hate two birds with one stone

Oh banks and Facebook; how much do I hate thee... let me count the ways

I have a PL company which I haven't used for the past two years, I've
been doing other stuff so it's been dormant. I've submitted zero GST
and tax returns and there has been no income into the company.

However: it does have a regular monthly debit to its ANZ account of
$10 to Belong (mobile phone) - this excellent mobile phone service
uses Telstra's retail arm and for $10 a month provides me with
unlimited national calls and texts. This is one of only two currents
debits to my account: the other is bloody ANZ charging me $12 a month
for doing sweet f%&* all.

Next on the hate scale - Facebook:
Since it's inception I have eschewed (un)social media in it's
entirety, however and sadly, I felt compelled to create a, bare
bloody minimal, Facebook account recently because the caravan I will
probably buy has a Facebook "Group". In my naivety I assumed this
"Group" would provide useful information and discussion regarding
Snowy River caravans in a similar manner to, say, this forum in
regard to the wealth of topics it covers.

Ha!

The format of Facebook is ideal for fourteen year old children who
wish to rave about their favourite rock bands or, indeed, silly
people who wish to post to the world that they saw, or didn't,
another Snowy River caravan on their recent trip - I was just
desperate for such information.

It is totally unsuitable for people who wish to spend $50k+ on a
vehicle and would really like some specific and detailed information
on such from existing owners.

If I buy one I'll set up a mailing list.

So... despite its negatives this forum is not so bad after all :)

Mike whenever I want info or advice from owners of either diesel Jeep GCs or Retreat vans I go onto the dedicated owners section of The Caravanners Forum. I just had a quick look for Snowy River vans on there but it doesn,t look like one has been started yet so you maybe able to get the ball rolling.

cheers
BB

Hi Mike (trice in one day).

I enjoy facebook most times, we keep up with young relations with what they are doing, our overseas family occasionally lets us know where they are.

I follow a transport history site and have shared 50 to 60 photos of my early years in the industry though the seventies, preasure of eighties with lots of accolades. Enjoyable for the most.

My other favorite site is our caravan ňwners, yes I summit happy snaps of our caravan in its travels, from other peoples travels photos I am collecting data for future travel. Its interesting most of the complaints are about stoves, frigs and electrics from out sauced suppliers. A bit of carpentry falling apart but nothing serious. I am glad its not forum stuff, I persnnally would not belong to that type of site. In fact its a very happy caravan owners site.

For some it works and others it do'nt. Ralph.

My daughter and wife have Facebook accounts ,for me personally I would feel like a real goose getting involved with that site at my age,and probably an embarrassment to them, biggrin

I'm not a huge fan of Facebook itself but I do use Facebook Messenger whenever I have internet coverage to make phone or video calls. It was great when I was working in Oman and Bahrain where both ends would be charged $3.80 a minute to make or receive a phone calls from Australia you just needed to run a VPN as some governments like the Omanis will try and block your access to social networking sites to force you into using a local carrier.

Cheers

BB

I've no interest in face book. Read the book. The subtle art of not giving a f..k. It rambles on about how people on facebook honestly think their stuff is important. When the reality is. No one really gives a f..k. Lol.
