Have arrived home and found items with batteries, ie; clocks, remotes, pleasure aids etc not working and upon checking the batteries in the devices I noticed a couple of them had started to leak and cause corrosion.
I will be removing the batteries in these devices before we travel again

Mike, our batteries were not Duracell so maybe you are onto something there.
The cost of the Duracell is generally not much more than the others. For now I have fitted new no name brand batteries and I will remove them when we leave home again.
