We have a 2011 Winnebago Eyre fitted with a 125litre fresh water tank and a 125 litre grey water tank.
Usually we just use our onboard supply and top up the fresh water tank when depleted, however, we are in a van park and when connected to its water supply the water flows straight to the grey water tank without any of the sink, shower or hand basin wastes being used.
The same thing happens when the onboard pump is employed and the mains water supply is disconnected. I am at a loss as to why this is happening, cannot get under the chassis at present but I was under the impression that only the wastes flow to the grey water tank and that no water supply went to the tank. No doubt this problem will be easier to solve when the vehicle is over a pit.

I can only suggest that you get a plumber to look at it, asap
There should be no way of fresh water, (other than from a sink or shower), connecting to the grey water
For health reasons, I would not now be using the fresh water, just in case it has been contaminated by the grey water
Thank you very much Tony, am checking this out tomorrow, cannot understand how fresh water is running into the grey tank when only the wastes should be connected.
No sir, I can fill our fresh water via the tank access cap but when the pump is employed or the mains pressure connected the fresh water flows to the grey water tank,
This is a strange one for sure, as both systems should be totally separated. The only thing I can think of, is maybe some design weirdo has connected the breathers of each tank to a common single hose/vent outlet, and that outlet has become blocked.
Then there maybe a secondary problem of a non-return valve in the system when on mains pressure, allowing the mains water to continually fill the onboard water tank. Hence the onboard tank becomes full, over flows, can't flow out the vent and can only go into the grey water tank.
For health reasons alone, I don't think this would be done.
Bankstown Lidcombe hospital got the oxygen and nitrous oxide lines mixed up during construction. No one tested the system before commissing and a baby died. Nothing surprises me, if it can happen here it can happen to water tanks.

Hello there Iana and thank you for your thoughts, it is a strange one. The flow to the grey tank from the mains is instantaneous even when the fresh water tank is empty. We have had no water problems for the last 30,000 kms but are getting closer to home where I can get under the truck to check non return valves etc.
Thank you again,
Best regards, Neil.

Thank you Whenarewethere that was truly culpable, however, we have had the truck for nearly a year and 30,000km and this is the first time that this has occurred .
Best regards, Neil.

Thank you Dragonfly1, that is what I am thinkin/hoping, all I have to do is locate it, but why is there one fitted?
It would seem unnecessary to fit one or even have a water line to the grey water except for flushing and then it should be accessible and detailed in the Eyre handbook?

The flushing idea could have some merit, just wondering if there could be a tap or directional valve for this purpose. Landy
