I'm hitting the road tomorrow - a new and probably the final stage in my life.
The Snowy River SR-19 caravan is almost packed and I'm organising my remaining possessions in boxes to store at my son's house.
I'll spend the first few days near Pakenham (Victoria) in order to familiarise myself with the caravan and be close to Bunnings and Safeway in order to stock up on the things I have forgotten or didn't think about.
After that I'll head into far east Gippsland to a campsite well out of mobile range and spend a few weeks there. After that... no idea... but my intention is to spend my time in the bush "far from the madding crowds". I'll be gold prospecting, shooting feral animals, fishing, playing Amateur Radio (80m will find me) and simply enjoying the bush.
I'll be a less frequent poster from now I suspect so go well all and take care.

Tomorrow (Sat) turned into Sunday but I thought; "Damn it! I'm not in a rush" - although I think my son is patiently looking forward to getting his house back :) Oh well... took me 27 years to get rid of him so he can just put up with it :)
Anyway the caravan is packed, although still a lot of cupboards empty and space under the bed and in the front tunnel so, hopefully, the weight is not too bad. However the 4WD is very packed!
>Are you member VKS 737 RADIO outfit
No, I'm not. I have an "Advanced" Amateur Radio licence so despite all my years of remote area travel have never felt the need to join VKS737 or similar organisations. Amateur Radio offers a *host* of comms opportunities.

Take care Mike, travel safely & have an awesome trip exploring all the nooks & crannies you've read & dreamt about.
I'm glad that you have an understanding son. Our daughter-in-law is a minimalist so David definitely won't be getting any historic items that Pat has in her possession.
Back "here", we'll miss your stabilising thoughts in the discussions. Happy New Year!
And if you need a hand to see the sights, I guess sending a few Private Messages will get you lots of assistance.
