Bought a new van 3 years ago modern wind up aerial ,works very well most areas ,but no vertical signals unless I can climb up on the roof remove a bolt and turn it up ,my travelling buddy has the modern winguard on his new van and its no better then mine,my brother in law has an old pop top and a happy wanderer T bar gets signal everywhere we do,including vertical on ours we cant get vertical, the thing that amazed me ,we were all three of us in a lousy area for signal just recently, yep the old t bar got it we did not,two caravans with modern aerials. I bought the old fashioned out of date T bar it arrived yesterday and will set it up when needed,I know this does not make sense but I dont care what anyone says ,seeing and experiencing opened my eyes up...
The Multi finned aerial is definitely the best for reception problem is they are difficult to fold and store plus extra pole is needed. They are a lot cheaper than the Wyngard's as well.

Yep dont mind watching free to air tv in our van ,just mute the adds,I suppose theres other high tec expensive options we dont need it ,could not be bothered with it,can easily afford it but free too air is good enough for us and all we require...

Yes Yes Yes. As we predominately watch ABC and SBS we are content with free to air. If not available we listen to the radio, read or go to bed.
I set up a "flat gate" type aerial years ago, fitted a booster and long cable and cut a long windsurfer mast to fit in the MH. Usually gets a signal if there is one around. If near a town it can sit on the ground or hang from the bus or fence to get a signal.
Bloody hell, we have digressed again. The India Pacific and Ghan SLOOOOOOOW TV shows are a perfect example of a missed opportunity. Lots and lots of vision many people have never seen, but the minimalistic commentary means a lot of it is not labelled, or easy to work out where you are. But some is better than Nigel on his other train show.
