This is a pic of the back of the socket , looks like 1 brown wire in and three out I'm assuming that theres 12v to the plug but its not going out to the sockets from there , would there be an internal fuse or could the circuit in the socket be cactus . Any help appreciated .

Hi Meza.

The light comes on from the supply for the Antenna Booster. This is a separate supply to socket (in our Jayco).

The socket fuse is in the main fuse panel. In our case the ST30.

If you have extra sockets you may have another fuse behind or in/behind the sockets /panel.

Looks "Nice"(not)!! It makes it hard to isolate the individual output ccts. If you isolate the outputs, does the fuse blow?

Mezza, did the TV/aerial work ok before you tried charging your phone? Is there anything loose in the TV plug or socket? Something shorting?
Do you have a multimeter?

Hi Mezza,

Don't know if you have fixed the problem yet, but sometimes you can find the answer by finding out what the problem isn't.

You have not told us what the brand of the van is.

Are the 12v sockets mounted in the van original installations, or have they been installed after, even by the agent, and are all of the sockets except the Winegard socket now unpowered? if so there must be an extra fuse in the system somewhere.

If you get the other sockets going again, try plugging the TV into another socket to see if it bows again, if it does not, its not the TV. You could also try the tv in another van just to confirm the problem is not the TV.

If all of these sockets including the Wingard are on the one circuit, have you got any other load coming off them. Bearing in mind that this supply is probably feeding the TV aerial booster as well, so there may be load from that, a fault, I notice those aerial cables are badly kinked, and they also carry a 12v supply to the Winegard system. Disconnecting the aerial connections before trying the TV in the 12v sockets maybe an idea, just in case the fault is there.

Remember its about finding out what the problem isn't, and then you will finally narrow it down to what the problem is.

Hi Mezza, do you have a battery protector fitted somewhere? If so it may have been knocked and is on a low setting. It might need to be adjusted. Just a thought. Mine was always tripping out at first until I discovered it was on the low setting, I adjusted to the middle setting and all good since.

I have My 24" Teak TV always plugged into 12v, even if van is connected to 240v. I just leave it be.

Thxs everyone , its all working again ? Its a quandry what occurred , I puta. Ew fuse in and I bought a new lead from tv to socket and plugged it in walla We have tv again , the weird thing is I plugged another usb plug in the tv socket and I could charge the phone I tried it in one of the other sockets and nothing . I then got another usb plug out of the car and it worked in the two other sockets ,its totally upside down , Anyway everything is back working so I'll keep fingers crossed. Thxs again .

A couple of points here the outlet on the rear from what I see has 4 wires, positive in and out and negative in and out. The other point male "ciggy" plugs

have a centre plug that is spring loaded and sometimes sticks back and does not make contact, there is a glass fuse in the plug.

That is the big problem with cigarette lighter sockets. Way back i read that the poor contact connection was part of the design of the sockets, the poor connection provided a bit of the heat to the cigarette lighter. If you are going to persist with them then you have to be prepared to clean them regularly. That's why I converted to Merit connectors.

When cleaning them use something like this insulated screwdriver. That will minimise blowing the supply fuse.

Not a fan of cigarette type plugs . If TV is permanent? I prefere to hard wire or use different type connection . I fitted a seperate 12v feed inside with Anderson plug to feed USB box etc . With breaker at battery .
