How to Stop the Toilet Roll Unravelling

Hi

 

I am just so sick of the toilet roll unravelling when the van is on the move.  Nothing seems to work, and an elastic band is just a pain.

 

So...

I have come up with the answer and I'm looking for a couple of volunteers, who are about to hit (or are on) the road and are willing to roadtest and give me some feedback.

 

I have 2 FREE toilet roll holders I can post out.

 

Made in Australia, polycotton fully washable, light weight, fits all toilet rolls.

Quite ingenious.

Large flat rubber band is OK it is only a matter of sliding to the side/off the roll and replacing.

You could always get a dispenser from Office works. www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/aquarius-single-sheet-toilet-tissue-dispenser-ki69460

Has any-one tried attatching the Holder Vertically, instead of Horizontally ?  Also a tiny piece of sticky tape would do the job ,surely ?

Part of Departure Checklist.

Remove roll, put in cupboard.  

No more unraveling.

A strip of double sided velcro tape works very well and is easy to fit and remove, also use another on the roll of kitchen paper.

Try turning  the toilet roll the other way around so that you're tearing sheets away from wall

Hi Wanda, our toot roll holder has a metal flap that sits on top of the roll. A Have never had a roll un ravel! Cheers Ian Sorry cznnot provide a pic as van is not home.

Hi Wanda you have put a lot of thought into this I get the feeling that after road testing these fabric toilet roll holders you were hoping to be able to market them maybe you should have just given a couple to friends to test out and then marketed them I realise everyone is trying to help with their suggestions good on you for trying

Hi and thank you all for suggestions.

Bluecat, you nailed it, thanks for explaining, yes the better half has given some thought to this and was just hoping to get a couple of people on the road to test them out. She has given some to the friends with vans, but, most of them are still working so she was just looking for a few more voluteers, and yes free at that.

I think there are 2 left, and she will post them out.

Estilo Ivory Toilet Roll Holder - use one of these or the same style. The weight of the roll hanging against the wall prevents the roll from unwinding. You can get them at Bummings.

Thanks Peter,
I doubt very much if that one would work in an offroad situation,probably ok on the bitumen. Yes rubber bands work(and have used) but A BIT PRIMITIVE AND UGLY
We do a lot of offroad travelling I think maybe that there lies our problem, but never mind the wife has her plans to see if a market exits for her little invention.

A bit of foam stuffed inside the cardboard tube, not too tight. A bit of an offcut off an old dish washing foam pad.

We just squash the roll a bit or a bit more so it's oval and haven't had any issues.

Keep it simple, no cost.

I have had that problem for 20 years & have yet to come up with a satisfactory solution.

 

I certainly like the OP solution.  Looks like a great item for sale on line or at flea markets.  My sewing skills are not up to making one & it won't work for my kitchen paper dispenser.  Buggar.

 

I certainly like the drum brake & squashed centre suggestions.   I will implement them for our upcoming trip.

 

I currently use a piece of 90mm storm water pipe cut to fit neatly over the roll.  Same for kitchen paper dispenser.  Works if I remember to put it position.

I also have a bit of double sided velcro fixed to the wall that loops over the roll but never remember to fasten it.

PS .. I use those Bunnings style plastic roll holders .. got one 20 years ago (at Miter 10?), pre Bunnings & it is still going OK!

I use a 100mm(4 inch) paper clip - 8 pack costs about $3 at Officeworks
