Forum pictures am I missing something most pictures posted on the forum come out upside down or sideways it seems to be a big problem obviously, the picture would be the correct way around when posted one would think.
There is a bit of code with the photo to say which way up it should be, but quite often these forums have problems. The best way is to actually rotate the pixels in photo editing software so the top is the top.

Strange problem ,this is a great forum ,pictures I have posted elsewhere when your original picture is in the right position and when you send it that the way It comes out as posted, but here they dont this is one of the best forums as we all know, but in my opinion this puts people off posting pictures here, theres obviously a method to it ,but it would encourage more people if you could simply just hit send.

15 - 20 years ago I did a project on Optical Character Recognition and found that different file formats and different Operating systems had the origin different.
Some had the first line at the top whilst others had it at the bottom.
And bmp format was different between Microsoft and IBM.
I didn't do either Apple or Linix at that time.
But the first two words in the file give the file type and so should indicate which origin to use.
It could be that things have changed since this forum's code was generated.
Since Windows 7 there has been a built in algorithm that auto-rotates the picture on your PC screen but that is not how the web works.
On the web, all pictures are by default oriented as landscape, not portrait, unless you choose to manually rotate your portrait pics in a separate app and save them that way.

I believe that most of the wrong way round pictures involve tablets or phones. Members have a habit of using these for taking pictures and subsequently posting them on the forum. If the picture is taken with a phone or tablet, when viewing the picture it will always display with the top of the picture at the top of the screen no mater which way around you hold the device.
When you come to post a picture, when you look at that picture it will look to be in the correct orientation. However the phone/tablet posts the picture in the same orientation to the device as that when you took the picture. When you post a forum picture you must remember the way up your phone/pad was when you took the picture and hold if in exactly the same way up as you insert the picture.
Is there anyone out there that has transferred their picture to a computer, used that computer to post the picture and it has come out turned around?

If take a photo in portrait on my small Canon camera, the photo will be on its side when uploaded, unless I resave it in photo editing software before uploading.
