Yes Paul, but they could have their uses. Imagine the money we could save on gaols and crime punishment if instead of incarcerating criminals they were sentenced to several hundred hours of watching reality shows, those bloody cooking shows or for the really serious offenders, a few days worth of those home renovations and real estate purchasing shows.
I reckon upon release from that punishment they would never be in trouble again.
Australia does very well in the electrician, plumber, building etc international apprentice olympics, they pay their own way to participate. But we don't hear much in Australia about these young people who will actually contribute something useful in the long run. Looks like you need to do some useless sport with a ball & have fights & abuse females & then you get government funding!
