THETFORD N614 3F FRIDGE PROBLEMS

A friend had problems with fridge on gas on new van last week ,,,,, gas problem fixed now problem on 240V.

Fridge started and cooled down OK then cut out,,,, main power light is red.

Only thing I can find is UK site that indicates that the red light on power switch is 12v power disconnect to electronics circuit (fridge light works as it's a different 12v circuit)

Any experts out there please.

Cheers Baz

Hi; Take the caravan back to the place were the van was bought from, even give them a ring in case the problem is " some thing simple ". Let them have the problem of finding the fault. A new caravan and hardly out of it's shell. This is type of problem that can happen and the company that sold the caravan, hopefully will bend over backwards to help.

Tell them they have to fix it as your friend is going to leave it at their dealership!

And while they are at it, make certain that the 12v works as well. And ask for a written report.

Thanks guys ,,, obviously he's gunna have to take it back,,,

Problems arise as you all know,,, they have the power,,,, refused to say what was done to fix gas.

240V Fault is not obvious but intermittent (after a few hours operation, then cuts out), so purpose of my OP was to see if someone had any idea of this problem.

All consumer affairs would say is take it back,,, back to square 1.

Doesn't help if they are on Eyre Peninsula next week does it.

Baz, AES fridges generally have three lots of 12 V power that go to the fridge. There is the heavy one for the 12 V element, a signal line from the tugs ignition circuit to indicate the motor running and one from the house battery to power the electronics board. Check that all are present at the terminals on the back of the fridge.

Further to my above, I found an operators manual. I downloaded it from - Download Thetford N614E.3F Owner's Manual - The only mention of a flashing red light was that it was an indication of the AA batteries have become low.

Peter I don't think the batteries you mention are fitted to Australian variants of this fridge, well they are fitted to mine anyway,

Can't help the OP either as haven't had any issues with our fridge.

yes have him checking voltages at the fridge

also found a fixya query,,, seems loose connections are apparent on new fridges too

Thanks again
