Hi i have a HZB50 coaster with 1hz motor had to fit a s/h motor out of a 98 landcruiser ,forgot to change the 24 volt solenoid as landcruiser has 12 volt so fitted 24 volt to 12 volt dc converter worked well for a few months then uphill would cut out took a lot of starting each time so knew it had run out of fuel would run ok on flat road put a push pump in and running ok now 2 questions will the push pump cause a problem down the track and the HZB50 original pump looks slightly bigger are they different thanks tedric
Looks like there is no other answer, so here goes. I do not know whether the pumps are the same but I would think so. However a complete parts listing for Toyotas would tell you.
Why not buy a 24v solenoid for your pump and fit it ? I am sure a good truck diesel shop would get one for you. However you could also fit a heavy resistor to drop the voltage down to prevent it burning out instead of the voltage converter. The converter may be dropping the voltage too low for good operation. The solenoid would normally operate at about 14-14.4 V while the engine is running.
I would think a pusher pump would be OK in the long run so long as the pressure is not high. Some vehicles use a pusher pump on some models and not on other models with the same motor. But your injection pump does use the internal fuel delivery pump to generate pressure that operate the control systems internally. That is why the pusher pump should only deliver the fuel to it at a low pressure just to ensure the fuel is always available at the injection pump inlet. Consult a truck diesel specialist not a general forum is my advice. Often BS is spouted here about diesels.
Hi Jaahn thank you for info the fuel pump is low pressure and seems to do the job cant change solenoids as they are in against motor side and they dont give you any room to work on these HZB50 buses Thanks again
