I posted a question a few moons back about my above heater not firing up and staying on or firing up then goes out and continued this. I thought it was a thermostat setting preventing it from working above 13c. That post is way down in the dungeon now so thought I would post a new one.
It actually got to the point it would not even fire up so I found and contacted a Truma service man here in Young NSW. He is retired but still does the odd job here and there. Better still he came to me. He looked at the gas fittings and bottles outside then came inside the teepee and turned the switch on. Withing seconds he said it is starved of gas.
What did he do I hear your ask? Well, he went outside and adjusted the gas regulator to allow more gas to get though. Came inside turned on again and BINGO. First time it started and stayed on. It actually worked better than ever and has been for the last week now. It was a lack of gas getting through. He said the 13c had nothing to do with it as should start even around 18c.
As a bonus, the gas side of the fridge has always been hard to start first time and took around 6 clicks to fire up but now, it fires up first time and runs on lower settings as well.
I am now a happy camper. OH! and a warm one too.

I don't think that anyone would have thought that it was a gas starvation problem, so now we all know what to look for, if it happens to someone else
I assume that the old gas fitter would have seen similar problems in the past, and known what to look for
It reminded me of a problem I had when I first got my van.
It had those valves fitted to the gas bottles that are supposed to cut out if you have a gas leak in the system. I think they are called a gas fuse or similar.
My fridge was like Dougwes being slow to fire up and so was the water heater. Then when my Webber wouldnt light one day I got it working by switching it to the other bottle. Then after a short time it would not light on that bottle either.
I took both bottles and had them filled and returned only to find the same thing happening.
I removed the valve from one bottle and everything fired up perfectly so I removed the valve from the other bottle and now all is better than it ever was.
My old camper did not have these valves and I have since been told they may be fitted to newer vans or an owner can buy them and fit them if they want to.
Since then I was talking to a gas fitter and he said that at times there may be continents or dirt in the gas and this can cause problems with some equipment.
When I am not using gas I have both bottles switched off.
Just the bonus of the fridge starting up better on gas mate
