Waste oil when full time on the road, how do you deal with it. I read somewhere, those who sell you the oil are obliged to take back the waste ---- on enquiry, not so said one shop.
Many Supercheap stores have a waste oil bin out the front of their store.

Many stores in busy places now have the bins inside. This is to stop vandalism or silly dumping. I just take mine to the door and ask and they will indicate where the bin is or take it themselves out the back.
Modern diesels take lots of oil and with an auto transmission change you end up with quite a bit to dispose of.

Repco, and some small auto shops in smaller towns, did not have access to take used oil
Supercheap did accept my used oil
I also noticed, (but did not use), some council controlled yards, had signs pointing to their used oil bins
My current vehicle has a service interval of 30,000 ??? if you wish to believe the salespeople.
So I no longer have to plan any maintenance on the road, as my average road trips are between 14 to 17,000 ks
I can't say for other states/territories but in Victoria at least there is absolutely no such requirement. No different from them not having to dispose of your old filters, wiper blades, etc.

Most small places have a mechanics workshop that will take your old oil for a fee - usually $10. All you have to do is ask - the worst that they can do is to say "no". I have only met one who got narky that I didn't get him to change the oils for me so I went around the corner to an ag machinery service centre who said yes and took it for nothing.

Well I just paid just under $1200 on a BT50 service, both diffs done but didn't really need doing and the auto oil change and filter, oil didn't need it but the filter hadn't been changed on the previous oil flush. could do most of it myself. I'm really pissed off by the Mazda dealer taking all day to do a rushed sevice at 4pm after having the vehicle all day, then quoting inflated figures on work about $1500 bucks worth that didn't need doing yet. They won't be seeing me again. Just be aware that the work they suggest doing is not really required, they are just conning up extra business for a half job.

and it sounds like you would maybe the first to complain if something they recommended doing failed inside 12 months cause nobody told you, they most likely don't want you back as a customer. Just a tired worn out mechanic sick of complaints with only one side of the story.
I do my own services so I know whats involved ,theres big money in it these days get a few quotes ,seems to me your job was very very expensive,I dont trust a lot of them ,I would even put a scratch on the filters to make Shure they changed them.there mainly just fluid changes and inspections,if the cars running to perfection thats usualy good enough...
I really am just paying for a computer read out and a signature in the log book. If I was younger and not worried about those things, I would do it myself. I do my own inspection/service on the van. I started doing inspections/servicing when I was 18, but what I did was a bit more detailed than what these guys are doing.
