I've used one for a number of years now and its performed as it should, only problem for Me was where to fit the unit in the car, the functions of the unit give enought input for settings that suit Me, Joda.

Yes, I've got a Primus IQ and been using it for the last 7 years without a problem.

I have (of all things) a Kia Cerato hatch (tows 1200 / 75 ball) and towing an Aliner (1100 / 70 ball) - I also have a heavy duty 7x4 (with frame and canvas canopy) box trailer with a 900 ATM - as I already had the brake controller in the car for the Aliner, I got the box fitted with electric brakes (as its over 750, it had to have brakes anyway - I didn't like the prospect of normal over-ride brakes pushing against the car when braking).

What I like about the Primus, is that when I'm towing the Aliner, I use one specific setting, and it works well - however, when I'm towing the box, I can easily adjust the Primus to suit whether the box is empty, half full, or fully loaded and adjust the braking response to suit.

Regards, Brian

Have a look at the Red Arc Tow Pro. Unit hides under the dash, all you see is the one knob and is a fully proportional unit. Have been using one for about 4 years now and would highly recommend.

Tow pro is a great piece of modern technology worth every cent of its cost. Far superior and safer than the old pendulum technology.

I've always had Tekonsha controllers & when I redid my brakes after 20 years, I stayed with them & got a new P3.

I am delighted with it.  An excellent controller.

Interesting that when I got a trailer 'expert' to fine tune my adjustments he was very critical of the Red Arc product, which surprised me.  I thought that they are the 'gold standard'.

have the P3 I think the model is. gives me good control and works well
to be honest though, I probably should have went with a red arc, only since its much smaller and takes up less space on the dash.
Mine is mounter to the left of the steering wheel under the dash. Whack my knee on it now and then.
Lives in the glove box when not towing because of that.

cheers Brett

Don't know why your so called expert was critical of the Red Arc Tow Pro. Not only has it won accolades on test of controllers from caravan magazines as the best of the bunch, but everyone that I have spoken to in the industry or that has one is full of praise for them. I have had nothing but an excellent run with mine.

Not my 'expert'.  Have another read of my post.  I'm not knocking Redarc.
