Old van

Gday.I have recently purchased a lovely old 1980 franklin Snipe van circa 1980. My wife and I really enjoy a couple of nights on the Murray every few weeks but some of the real good spots prevent us from taking our big van in due to trees and tight turns etc .So this little 12 footer is ideal. The outside was very tired and needed some TLC but the inside was in great nick and everything works perfect plus I truly did not wish to change any thing to simply retain the feel ! A most enjoyable week was spent painting ,polishing ,servicing and just totally enjoying myself was had .After shifting things in a section of my large garage I had a nice new home for it,except that it was 50ml too high to bloody fit !!   Letting the tyres down was the obvious go ,however ,most inefficient frankly. Being an ex plumber I looked to the heavens and saw that the top garage door flashing was 90 ml ... so 75ml was trimmed with the snips and ..yes we fitted beautifully albeit very close. I can also push the bugger any where and my ride on mower is great for putting it to bed.Just wondering if anyone else is as weird as the neighbors think I am ? Cheers.

PS I have bloody tried to put a number of pics on here ,however every pic was sideways or upside down !I have no idea how to correct it or why on earth it even happens ! Very frustrating 1

If you like PM them to me & I'll rotate them & PM them back to you, then you can post them the right way up.

Hi Westy,

Congratulations. I once owned a 20ft Franklin 1976 model with shower/toilet cubicle.

The Reno section is handy in the tech section. If on Facebook the "Vintage and retro caravans" site is a ripper.

Cheers Tony
