We are 2 weeks away from heading up to NT. With a very poor wet season I am wondering how Litchfield is looking? Appreciate any feedback. Will be also staying in Darwin and hoping the crowds will be thinning out by then. Haven't been to Darwin since 2002 and haven't been on the Savannah Way since 2011. We live in Cairns and know how badly North Western Qld has been horribly affected by the weather. More of a reason to travel outback this year. Thanks
Litchfield is worth a visit anytime. NP website claims all swimming holes are open. I've seen recent posts with images on social media and camping sites and it's doesn't appear devastated.
Forgot to add crowds disperse and events like bigger markets stop operating if an early wet arrives. Some local markets and business plough through regardless. Tours are the same, most operate as late as they can. Expect high numbers until late Oct at least.
Hi on your way to nt go to bitter springs at mataranka then Edith falls just north of Catherine then up to Douglas Daly hot springs if the conditions are right you can go the back road into litchfeild Nat park when you get there it is one of best places to be awesome

Just got back from a two month stay in Darwin. Very dry and plenty of smoke in the air. Litchfield was worth the visit, not as much water as in previous years as they had a very poor wet season last year.
Thanks Hendo for taking the time to add a photo. I appreciate your effort. It's been a while in the planning and don't know if we put it off this year when we will have the opportunity in the near future. Best wishes for a safe trip home.
Hi Dabbler thanks for the info. It is already spring weather here in Cairns and we hate summer so hoping the humidity doesn't set in when we up there soon. Cheers Trish
