Hot passenger seat in our Longreach

Any idea on how to stop the heat coming up under the passenger seat from the motor.

Cheers

Seriously now, a low powered fan and ducting is common for these problems. I did the same in a Mitsubishi van years ago.

 Hi goldcoaster smile

Possibly just buy some insulation material from an auto parts place and put that on the engine cover under the seat base and under the covering. You could cut it so it fits well in and around the whole area and down the front also. That is where I found it worst on the back of your legs in summer.  You could even get some higher temp rated insulation and fit it underneath in the engine compartment.

Also check for holes and gaps where the cover plates join and may not be sealed correctly. Particularly if it has a inspection hatch that lifts open. The rubber seals can be poorly fitted.

Good luck jaahn

I have used two sheets of the expensive engine bay acoustic insulation from Carbuilders & have noticed that it also does an excellent job of thermal insulation. Also used the aluminium sheet as well in a different location but can't say how well it actually works reflecting heat.

I figure its the exhaust ? Either fit a double shield on body or wrap the exhaust with heat wrap ? It maybe running rich on that bank ? If v motor ? Or semi blocked cat ? Hit cat with hand ? If it rattles or makes a noise . The centre of cat has broken
And needs replacing!! Its NOT normal
To have hot seat !! Insulating could be fixing or masking another issue !
Best to fix or insulate at the source ., Can cause fires !! Long grass etc . Imagine how hot it is under car ? From memory the Isuzu motor is 5.2 / 4 cylinder turbo diesel.  Wrap exhaust . If turbine is near seat ? Fit a turbine blanket .  I fitted one on my 6.5 Detroit.  Much cooler, its under drivers seat .  Maybe fit exhaust pyro temp sensor ?  https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/car-accessories/videos/a29999/how-much-a-turbo-blanket-helps/

Hi, the exhaust is on the drivers side, not much to get hot on the passenger side, most of the seat is over the wheel well, the radiator is close to front of the seat where ones legs are. Make sure engine temperature is reading normally. I would be making sure the seal to the engine bay is good, rubber surround in good condtion, and the hatch clips down properly. I never used the passenger seat to know how hot ours gets. Could add some more insulation under the seat without to much trouble if problem continues,

Must have some misaligned joins if its leaking through ? Is the heater turning off ? Duct tubing maybe faulty ? Surprisingly under trays pull air away from engine . Some remove them for servicing and dont refit . The lower tray creates a vacuum pulling air from engine .. Sound like some insulation on engine / heat side under seat
?? Imo not much help on inside where surface is already hot .

Spot on Roger. Engine temperature is good , Seals look good but I'm sensing the heat is squeezing through seal , hatch locks down tight. I'm goint to try some 25mm Thermobreak insulation and see how it goes. Because of the house build it can't get out , maybe cutting a air vent in might help. I was hoping to hear from other Longreach owners , as the manufacturer hasn't heard of this problem BS.
