Key amenities removed

It would appear that the temporary toilet block and dump point amenities at greens have been removed.

Only three portable toilets are currently available for this extensive free camp area.

What is happening to this once wonderful free camp?

Will new Services be provided in time for Summer?

I have heard of this Greens Lake campground and I know that many who visit there stay for longer periods and from what I have heard, it is a great spot and it is of no cost to campers.
How extremely lucky are those campers not to be charged for the facilities and rubbish collection.

I wonder do the local ratepayers share the same view?

Lol Iva Biggen. As most people know Greens lake is owned and maintained by GMW who are paid money by irrigators( Me, l'm a farmer) to maintain it for irrigation and flood mitigation. My farm is 5 minutes down the road towards Stanhope. Greens has no time limits and GMW have no plans to change it.

Loving the updates on the amenities for my favourite spot. Although I don't use any of them while staying there will be great once it's all up and running again. A great drawcard for many travellers.

 Hi Stretch,

I was not aware that it is a water board facility.

That is great that they are upgrading the area for all to use, particularly camping.

Many of the catchments in SA do not permit camping which is a shame because many of the surrounding areas are excellent.

Well done GMW.

Hey Iva Biggen, Yes we are indeed lucky that GMW chooses to keep some of their water storages open for camping. Several other lakes near here are open for daily use but no camping. If your ever passing Greens Lake check it out.

Yes Stretch it sounds like a great spot.

I like western Victoria particularly along the Murray but have never been down that way.
I would have to do it in summer mate as I am not real keen on the cold weather.

All things being equal, I hope to be at Greens Lake in February 2020

It will be my privilege, to say hello to friends I have already met there

Hopefully I will meet some new faces, from this great forum

Caught up with Kevin and Kim out here today. Hadn't seen them for 5 years. Great to see them again.
Very cold here at the moment, everyone is sitting inside with their heaters going.
