Welcome and G'day. I see you have tuned in to check out my goings on for October, so sit back and read away. This month is a very short update so read on and you will find out why.
To start with I will do the weather report but I am still waiting on the map behind me and gizmo in the hand to arrive. They were ordered a couple of months ago but I think they might be lost in the playground somewhere.
The start of October in down town Young NSW we saw -3c 12c overnight and high teens to high 20's during the day, with a few low 30's even, to let us know summer is on its way. Wind came in here and there throughout the month and varied in direction and strength but nothing too serious. Worst part was, none to very little rain yet again. Things a very dry everywhere you look. Smoke is also around due to fires north of us.
The start of October also saw me set up for a stay on the farm and getting ready to do some house sitting while Garry and Roxanne head of on the ocean waves for a while.
Daylight Saving Started 6/10/19 so daylight will be a little longer for those happy hours at the end of the day.
Not a lot was done during October. You might remember I was waiting to get results of tests etc for the severe pain I have had and see the GP here in down town Young, well, I did and things are not and will not be good for some time. I won't go into detail and bore you with the gory details but to cut a long story short I have been told not to travel for possibly up to six months and get the medical treatment needed. Years of my career and travelling in the playground have caught up with me. Bugga!
So, with that all said, this will be my last monthly update for a while but I will still be around. You cant get rid of me that easily sorry. I more than likely will send a short update by email now and then to friends and family to keep them up to date so if you also want that let me know and I can put you on the list.
I did catch up with good friends Brian and Cheryl as they moved further south and called into Young to say hi. A good chat around a cuppa was had and time went very quickly. I saw Brian and Cheryl twice while I was in Townsville, once as they moved through heading north and one as they came back while heading south. This often happens out in the playground as we are all doing the same thing really.
Me being me couldn't wait for the pain to improve so in my now not very good wisdom decided the other day to head off on a 60km journey a little north of Young to Cowra, no real reason I chose there just that it wasn't all that far and I wanted to see how the Collie was going after a major service that included the timing belt change etc but I had to stop halfway for a rest and stretch then when I got there did a couple of things then headed back to Young, again, having to stop halfway. When I arrived back at the aluminium tent I was in heaps of pain and had to rest up a little. That helped thank goodness. So, I am still a long way off driving any distance. I have set a challenge of late December to make a move south back to Glenrowan and have told the GP and Physio I will take two days to do a 4-hour trip. They have agreed for now.
Luckily, I can still drive the 7km into town when I need and to appointments so that's good. I also want and need to be here until early December anyway for house sitting duties that I cope with quite well.
So, that all said and done and dusted I wish you all well and have a great Christmas and start to 2020. I might pop in between now and then to say hi but time will tell, no use wasting your time reading nothing.
Like Arnie said, "I'll be back". Due to no travelling around there are no pics so have selected a few from my previous travels.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Sorry to hear you have been grounded Doug. Hope things get sorted and you are back travelling the highways and byways soon. Please add me to your "mailing list".
Thankyou everyone for the kind words and PM's I really appreciate it.
I will make contact with those that want me to email anything when I do any emails for the Addy.
A quick update though, After many moons of pain I think after Physio treatment etc I feel I might have, not quite turned a corner but maybe gone around a bend in a very long road as Pain has eased very slightly. I have taken myself off one pain killer to see how that goes. The other one still has some work to do I think.
I am hoping to leave Young NSW mid December and head further south into VIC if the Physio and GP gives me the go ahead for a slow trip down.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Good news Doug and here's hoping things keep getting better. Constant pain can really wear you down so fingers crossed you're on the road to recovery. Just remember to take it easy!
Keep up the random posts when you get a chance. Hope the Medicine Man can dance up a bit of better health for you - Take care and don't get the feathers singed.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words, I do really appreciate it.
A few of you have given me an idea though. Instead of emails I might just do the odd (Yeah I know, I'm odd. Beat ya all!)
'Claytons Update'. You know, the update you get when you don't get an update.
A very quick 'Claytons Update' to kick it off. The pain still seems to be very slowly improving but did do another drive the other day and had to stop halfway both ways, so still some time to go yet. Physio is helping heaps though.
Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Just belatedly catching up Doug. Have recently experienced some unwanted issues on the health front, so know very well how such things can impact upon a travelling lifestyle. I wish you all the best & hope you manage to find a way through it which allows yo to keep doing what you love.
