Has any one checked their dashcam lately

Do you check if your dash cam is actually recording on a regular basis? Our appeared to work, but had stopped recording mid June 2019. Went to check something just after Xmas, no joy , just filled up in June, then stopped. Showed a screen when taking off, thats all.

Thanks Ken,
That makes sense, I spoke to supplier, but he did not suggest reformat that often, just reformat and see how I went with it. It is a PITA to get in and out.

The heat gets to them eventually as they are in the full sun most of the time.

I check mine regularly as I keep a few interesting short clips as part of our travel record.

Every dash camera suggests you reformat the SD card at least monthly.

I have been using dash cameras now for over 10 years.

Bought my first cheap unit in China.

Every now and then it was all lines and no video, reformat the card and you are off again.

This unit cost me the grand sum of 110 RMB or about $25.00 au.

My latest unit is a kenwood, the quality of the video is amazing light or dark.

But I maintain it by reformatting the card on the first of each month I am always sure of excellent video.

Oh, and dont go cheap with the SD cards

cheap cards give you....cheap video.

They are great and I used one to report an idiot to the cops, they even used it as evidence in court.
