Automatic transmission oil cooler - do I need one?

Triton have high oil temp warning light on dash . Ive had it come on several times . Pulling transmission cable through Bush . Hard work on auto and no airspeed to cool . Bah work
Vehicle . If it was mine ? I would have fitted a cooler . They are not totally set up to tow heaving loads ., Depending on driving styles?

I would say all of them because if they weren't they wouldn't go into limp mode when they get to hot . scanguage 11 will tell the steering wheel attendant before this happens .

if it's locking itself into the limp mode it has most likely already got too hot, but it certainly confirms trans oil temp is being monitored, not surprising give the advanced electrical systems in vehicles these days.

Yep wasn't commenting on the actual temp just the fact it could and would go into limp mode therefore must be monitored by the vehicles ecu . just a response to your last comment, " how many modern vehicles monitor transmission temp, I really don't know."

HI
If towing more than 6x4 and weighing more than 1000kgs for longer than 2-3hours fit a cooler . Remember towing change transmission oil every 50,000kms . All oils break down the additives at over a 100 deg cel . Protection is reduced.
Heavy duty transmissions of old vehicles were way way stronger than the job at hand. Could often handle a vehicle double the weight . Modern transmissions are NOT built like this.
