I wonder how many people remember "deportment and etiquette"? I always found these terms quaint and pretentious, even when they were in vogue. My own experience of the "social graces" was an "elocution" teacher who visited our Catholic school class on a regular basis.
Tributes are flowing for former model and deportment icon June Dally-Watkins, who has died in Sydney aged 92.
Dally-Watkins died peacefully in her sleep, according to her family. In 1950, she established the June Dally-Watkins school, which trained young Australian women in deportment and etiquette.

June Dally Watkins is an iconic Australian, she not only helped many young ladies and a few men good posture habits and self assurance, her etiquette spilled over into the mess training of the Services helping many young farm boys learn which knife and spoon went where. She also founded a Business College in which my wife learned the skills for her to obtain an office career for her entire working life.
I bet St Peter's table would be getting her look of approval or disapproval from now on VALE Dame June Dally-Watkins.
