I have been constructing this weekend a small self contained shower and toilet for my bicycle caravan when I finish it. I will need it for when I and the dog pull in a caravan park area that says "Self Contained Caravans Only". This toilet and shower will work, and fit in my 2200 L X 850mm W X 1260 H camper/caravan, that I will pull behind my bicycle. The T&S will work flawlessly and the powers to be, will not be able to say, that I don't a have a self contained shower and toilet, _ See you guys out there.
What I am actually talking about is, I build furniture for a company that builds large doll houses. In some the toilets and showers don't work, but in the more expensive ones, I construct little working models, so this is what, I was going to do, They will be self contained, so, they can never say, that I don't have a self contained toilet and shower in there.
I needed to fit a lot on my car roof so I drew up plans including roof rails & crossbars, scale 1:1 to find conflict issues & solve problems. The pre planning, even though it took a lot of time, saved physical revisions. Everything worked first time.
The problem being , is that people whom have in no way, an ability to carry a toilet and shower, including myself with the bike camper, our offroad c.van people with tents backpackers and hikers, are finding it harder and harder to travel, and to be unable to camp sometimes in a lot of places, because we are not self contained. Just for the benefit, I learned this at UNE in an Environmental Degree, was that the best depth to bury your personal waste is no more then 8 inches, otherwise, the worms, grubs and bacteria will not dispose of it. any deeper, and you can come back in 12 months time and it will still be there. it is a very hygenic way of disposing of your waste. And don't put a rock on it, or tamp it down, otherwise it wont breath. What you should do is put two sticks on it in an x formation, and it denotes a cat hole, so you should now what it means

Ric, I'm sorry that Regulations do not permit you to camp in areas designated as "Self Contained" only. These regulations are stipulated and enforced to ensure that pristine areas remain as such - Most of us are aware of the disgusting habits of many travellers out there, some like us carry doggy-doo bags and tongs (even though we don't travel with a furry companion) in and effort to keep well travelled/used camp areas clean. Attempting to circumvent legal restrictions is not on and I don't care if you can't afford, or don't wish to comply - Council and Park Rangers should enforce these Regulations to the full - despite the fact that you have studied for an "Environmental Degree", and promise to be aware.
Too many people (particularly us older folk) are claiming exemption for any restriction that don't suit us or make us do things now that didn't have to be done back when the early settlers roamed the bush.

So are saying Possum2, that people like me, and maybe bushwalkers and hikers should not be allowed to camp in the bush, if we are not self contained. I get we can't do it at certain places, but we can't all be cut of from the bush because we don't have toilets on us.
Ric, I never said you shouldn't camp in the bush - I did say you shouldn't camp in areas that are designated/regulated as "Self Contained only", unless you are self contained. As I said in my earlier post ; Porta-Potti are cheap and lightweight and would comply. Most of the bush in Australia doesn't have camping restrictions - but any area, regardless, should be kept clean, hygienic and nothing left behind other than footprints.

That's pretty cool Ric, but my calves are tired just thinking about towing that behind a push bike..........I thought your username was a bit of a joke but no all power to you mate.
Me, I'll stick to a turbo V8 diesel and a queen bed with ensuite in tow, lol............
