Hi Rob,
Welcome to the forum - I assume you have some sort of living abode when your out in your Max.

Have you had a look on the Oz Isuzu forum? You'll find my grumbles there, along with some others.

There is a chap (perhaps it is you?) who bought a 2018 model with the three leaf rear springs, went through the first recall where the springs were replaced with the same set. Then he modified the springs to suit - then got caught up in the same recall as me where they converted my LSU to the same suspension as the LM!!! That is fitting the HD 5 leaf springset.

The car is good, have a good reputation - the company? They sold me a defective vehicle in reality so I'm not impressed.

Welcome to the gang Robert, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I don't have a Dmax but did get close to buying one at the time I got my Colorado twin cab. At the suggestion of a good friend who also had a Collie at the time I had one extra leaf fitted to both rear springs. It was the very first thing I did when I got the Collie. Pedders did the job and I have been very happy ever since. I tow 2.7t and full time GN. Everything I own is either in the Collie or aluminium teepee.

OH! The job raised the rear end two inches and when the teepee is hooked up it drops that two inches and everything travels nice and level with no need for WDH. I don't feel any difference in comfort.

Maybe you could have a chat to Pedders and see what they say.

I hope you sort it out but in the mean time,

Keep Safe out there.

Hi Robert and welcome. I have a 2014 model DMax that I purchased new. When I first started towing a van I was advised to use a WDH and did so. After I purchased my next van I noticed that there was a slight dip in the rear when hooking it up. The van is only abut 2.2 tonnes loaded up and I used the WDH to fix that dip. I then thought about getting a suspension upgrade but after doing a fair amount of research and listening to wise people I went the way Doug did and had an extra leaf fitted to the rear suspension.

I can tell you that I am really pleased with the outcome. Car and van are level and the ride is good. I had mine done at South Grafton and it set me bck about $500. It probably sits about 2 inches higher with the van off but as I carry the normal junk in the tub it makes no difference.

Green Bros in South Grafton do a good job.  They up graded my rear springs.  They told me to stay away from after market springs as they are rubbish.

That is where I went and on your recommendation too Phil. They told me exactly the same about after sales shocks and springs. Whilst my original leaf springs were ok they were a bit flat.

I remember the bloke at Green Bros giving me a bit of his family history. They go back a number of generations to when they were building suspensions for heavy carts and the first trucks.

Good blokes and really know their stuff.

I can remember their great Grand father and grand father, their work shop was in River St Ulmarra.
