Economic Support Payment

Buy Australian , we needed a new TV , no luck , all made overseas , Micro oven shot it self last night , we can't find one made in Au.

The Gov. is handing money out so we can support the Australian economy , but the way it looks we are going to support overseas countries if we are going along and buy those items . cheers

Rice: well we used to grow it and process it. Now, we grow a small amount. The Ricegrowers Assoc. sells it to SunRice who send it bulk to one of the asian country's processing plants for processing and packaging and we then import it back. Its labelled Australian Rice. SunRice purchased the Rice mill at Finley and closed it down.( Not sure how many jobs were lost ) The greedy producers and SunRice get premium prices from overseas buyers and Aust gets a token amount of the crop. Last time I went to supermarket there was none on the shelf. I refuse to buy rice grown in the Mekong Delta. For that matter Bassa either.

Has anyone noticed that unless you buy from a fish market (usually chinese run) and stinks there is little choice in fish available. Farmed salmon seems to be the choice. Where is all our fish? Where is all our beef. Where is all our food. Overseas. making huge profits for the greedy producers and their middlemen. You can't eat money. Globalists wanting to make Australia the Food Bowl of the World need to be restrained.

We spent ours on nothing because as usual thats exactly how much self funded retirees get from the Federal government. The only thing we got was a NSW seniors card and as far as I can see that entitles us to very little other than emails offering us deals on wine or travel insurance..

1st lot went on the Awning replacement for the van as I needed to use a ladder to open and close the original - safety for me.
2nd lot went on a CPAP machine for one of us as that one has several auto immune problems plus Bronchiectasis(sp?) and Aspergillus. So health for us as well, both very timely we say!

You should be grateful you are in a position where you don't qualify for the hand out.

If it bothers you so much that you don't get it,sell some of your assets, give away some some of your wealth and you too can can qualify to get it.

Stop whinging and be grateful for the position you have been blessed to be in,many would gladly swap places with you.

It is not "lucky" to be a self funded retiree - There is no need to feel "Grateful" (other than to God). Most self funded retirees worked hard, carefully saved, and missed out on a lot of luxuries during their working lives. Many self funded retirees are ex service men that served in conflicts, many are ex Police that put their life and safety on the line every day. Many are ex both Military and Police. Putting money away for an old age or as a backstop for a family that may never see their parent come home was a choice, not something that was/is handed out.

For the sake of forum decorum I deleted my full response to this post.

Needless to say that as a never unemployed Superannuation & Tax paying, ex Volunteer Military person (didn't get in enough time to be a Copper) I found considerable disagreement and offence in this post.
