Nearly all were Jap? That just shows you either didn't watch the video or you have a bias? In the link that you provided 6 were US & 4 Japanese owned brands, there may have been one or two actually made in Japan but all the Yank were made in Trumptopia. The RAM 4500 was the worst according to the US consumers who responded.
I notice that the link for the 10 best vehicles according to the US consumer where all Jap, as you put it. That's just not right absolutely unthinkable that they have gone from pretty ordinary to one of the best along with Germany.
Yes I remember when Jap cars came out in the 60s . Everyone laughed . Now I think about the Asian ( Atleast ) if not Chinese made . Just on price like our clothing industry. The mighty dollar will make our divisions. The little Honda was laughed at years ago . Some like steering wobbles is part of bad maintenance. All vehicles have their little quarks that need keeping an eye on . Also some faults are cured under warranty . I cant believe how some manu Chev and Nissan has gone so down
Hill the last 20 years . I see Mitsubishi has stopped selling in Europe at present ? They are all feeling the economic down turn !!
There are often recalls for bits and pieces that manufacturers find have not lived up to service expectations or are a possible safety issue. Some you don't even know about, they are done at the next service.
These types of things don't make it a bad vehicle, In fact, imho, it shows a manufacturer who cares about their product.
Read that the Toyota Yaris new model is going to cost $22,000+ and all major brands except Kia ( Kia have 2 the Rio and the Pic???) will have cars costing more than $20,000 due to costly environmental requirements, so to me thats the opening for the Chinese Brands starting with MG.
Do not know anyone with an MG but friends/family are happy with their Rio's.

MG a Chinese car! Buggar me. I have seen quite a few about lately, but we live in a Chinese suburb.
I thought Haval was Indian, but it too is Chinese. Just goes to show how much/little I keep up with that sort of stuff.
I think that Patrol went down the gurgler when they went for a bloody 4 cylinder 3L (grenade) motor & now have swung the other way to a 'Saudi' focused V8 petrol monster. Sort of left the market to the sad old Toyota 'Cruiser. (Omitted taking a swipe at the Jeeps, Discos & overworked Utes of all types) They make even the Yank tanks look attractive ish.
I wouldn't take much notice of any of the figures or reviews. The Ford F150 is the biggest seller in the USA. Built in the USA! Try Mexico. Many US RVs are built on Ford chassis. (F450). Chassis all come from Mexico. Mitsubishi has a plant in se USA, Georgia, that built Dodge/Mitsubishi sports cars. Only difference was the badge. There are hundreds of these "mixed" examples that make these reports a mine field of inaccuracies.
Now we won't even mention the almighty Apple company. How many Apple products are made in the USA?
So when we say "worse" what are we even talking about?
Interesting: In Australia, if you buy a Jeep (American made) you get jumped on from every quarter. The Jeep gets bagged for everything, yet it doesn't even rate a mention in the top 10. Most of the issues on the listed 10 cars are trivial - nothing like we bag Jeeps for. Maybe they are biased??? Never!
