What do you mean we Tony arent you safely behind your closed borders over there in WA ? Im sure that the NSW authorities will deal with and trace this one just like they have with all the others who have tested positive. Ive no idea whats being reported in other states but any positive cases found are reported here daily by most of the news outlets and this one has been no different.
By "we" I mean me and the rest of us Australians, regardless of which State/Territory we may be in
I sincerely hope that it can be contained, and then eliminated, by contact tracing
I hope what you say about us all being Australians is true Tony but it sure doesn't feel that way for those of us who are currently being treated as pariahs feels more like we have returned to our pre 1901 existence as 6 seperate colonies.. Seriously thanks for your concern but I'm sure that the colony of NSW who has managed to get through harder challenges than this over the last 232 years will be able to do it again .

I think that this tracing wont be as simple as some will hope but time will tell. Remember the Crossroads Hotel outbreak.
I would agree that Tony and others in WA do feel safer than those in some other states. WA has handled the virus as well as any could expect.
Contrary to belief by some we other Australians dont want or like to see different rules for different states but this situation would not exist if everyone did what was originally asked by our Prime Minister when this virus first arrived in Aus.
We have family in NSW who are aware of the dangers and are following isolation rules as best they can. They dont go out socially or to venues where numbers of people collect. When shopping only one person goes etc etc and I could go on and on.
They dont have to do this if they want to adopt the trust us attitude by the NSW govt.
I have just got off the phone from my daughter in NSW who is in tears this morning because of this taxi driver that has potentially infected hundreds of people. She is angry and upset. The actions of a selfish few and the denial of those in charge that they can contain this virus is her major fear.
When I hear one of my children so upset I get fairly annoyed at the attitude of some.
We are all Australians and we will get through this but it sure would be a lot easier if we all did the right thing including those leaders who are responsible for the states that so far, have failed.
One trend that has emerged from this virus is those that live in states and even areas where the virus is contained is that these people are asking for everyone to do the right thing and all they are seeing is that almost on a daily basis that so many are just ignoring the rules.
Just do the right thing and have respect for all Australians.

I only have to look at our block of units. The parents with kids all get together, if not in one group, then a few in one group, next day cross contacts with another few, then a few more the next day another few & so on.
It's only a few of us oldies who keep our distances everywhere.
I have put up Covid signage for safe distancing on the notice board. I party did this for if we did have an outbreak in the building is that the Committee is covering their bum!
If our small sample is anything to go by then the tools for managing Covid is nothing more than luck!

The same daughter has complained to me several times as to the total lack of distancing when she has to go to the supermarket and other shops.
This is not only in NSW but it is similar in Qld.
I would no longer get in a taxi, a bus or a commercial aircraft than walking down to Sydney to visit family.
Wouldnt this be a lot easier if people just did the right thing.

Hi BB
I do note the smiley, and assume that there may be a bit of banter, in that post
I give the following info, on the type of person, I think that I am, (but I may be wrong), just in case anyone thinks that I am stirring the pot
If anyone should go back and look at any of my Covid-19/Coronavirus posts, they should not be able to find one post, where I have been condemning/disrespectful of any other State/Territory people
I have said before, and I shall say it again, we in Western Australia, have our fair share of idiots, it was pure luck, that the Covid-19 originally escaped from quarantine, in Victoria, and not in another State/Territory
I have now read on this forum, more than one person from VIC/NSW, mentioning that they are having the stick pointed at them, or words to that effect
I can only assume that they have been listening, to some high up leaders, who would probably like to divide and conquer the State/Territory, so that they can have, business at any cost, (and I hope to god, that I am wrong on that)
I would be ashamed to think, that friends in the East, who have met me, would think that I would point the stick at them
Sorry Tony it was a poor attempt by me at using sarcastic humour. I've no doubt most Aussies are concerned with what is happening in other states because like you they usually have friends or relos there. I'm probably getting a little sick of people blowing the situation out of all proportion in NSW I live in Lake Mac (Newcastle) and there have been zero cases reported in the northern or western parts of the state for over 6 weeks. The point to point transport operators, drivers and passengers are under strict covid guidelines and that includes masks, hand sanitisers, full vehicle cleaning after shifts etc. hopefully that has been enough to limit the spread resulting from this incident. The authorities know the dates and times that the driver worked, his routes, they have been using things like passenger credit card details and advertising his movements to the public so that any taxi users come forward for testing. Anyone identified as having travelled in his vehicle are considered to be close contacts and are being isolated for 14 days. In the last 24 hrs 4 cases have been reported here in the state and 'touch wood' none of them were associated with the taxi driver (3 returning travellers & 1 related to the Concorde Hospital cluster). This will actually be a good test on the effectiveness of procedures put in place to prevent covid transmission in that industry - if it hasn't worked then the govt. will have to come up with extra controls. I believe that one thing they are going to introduce from this is a contact tracing log for taxi users to fill out just like I had to when I played golf today.
