We heard that the "surgeon" who did my wifes' had died. "Good, hope he rots in hell". Unfortunately he is still practising. Get plenty of good references before you proceed. The offending finger is now almost twice as big and rest of hand is a constant pain and other fingers try to lock often

My wife has had it on both hands,it is called the Vikings disease,they spread it throughout Nth. Europe.

Make sure you get a good surgeon,the first hand operated on is perfect,It was done by Dr,Leach who has since retired.

The second came up good,but the finger is not as straight as the first operation,even the surgeon said that Dr.Leach did a brilliant job on the first hand.

Just leaves a small scar in the palm of your hand,you can hardly see it.

Also your hand is out of use for about 6 weeeks

I've just conferred with my father. He had this condition more than 30 years ago and he thinks he was operated on by A/Prof Bruce Conolly (Macquarie St, Sydney). The problem has not reappeared.

My wife has dupuytrens in both hands and ledderhose in both feet. She had radiation therapy in both hands when contracture was at an early stage seven years ago and this has been quite successful. There are other treatments available other than surgery when contracture is advanced. I would say that surgery would be a last resort. I had a Dupuytren's contracture done on my right hand about thirty years ago (Day surgery) never a problem since. smile

Yes, the hand was out of action for quite a few weeks. smile
