The label on the tin says 1 lb net. This means that the grease is at least 30 years old, and would probably have well and truly separated the heavy oils from the soap base by now.

No, just had the lid off for the pic. I reckon it is at least 40 years old, maybe more. Metric weights came in 1974
The consistency and colour are still like it was when new. It has done quite a few wheel bearings, but now only use on the cement mixer, or gate hinges.
Will buy some new for future wheel bearings. Had no idea about Ebay, amazing.
I'm pretty sure Energrease 1lb tins had an outer lid that capped the lot and an internal/inner lid with about a 1 inch centre hole. You pushed the inner lid down to force a blob of grease out without contaminating the rest. I have one somewhere that dates from the 1960s. If it's worth real money I should hunt it down.
No Chief, me and rum severely disagree. Wrong colour for ears bob. Do not recall the inner disc dab. But this tin has been from Maryborough to Melbourne and back to Albury, could have been used for a spare wheel on that caravan mentioned elsewhere.
Mine has done several laps and many desert crossing but the old man was a "use it, tidy it, put it back in the proper place" person. I didn't inherent that gene.

I remember that inner 'lid' Was handy for force filling grease guns.
