Very short on details, post a picture of the spec label on the unit if you want an answer.

The *only* way to be sure is to try it.

Because if you give the specifications as in make, model, current draw running and start up maybe just maybe some will help you out.

What is your idea of a box air conditioner? Is it a House reverse cycle window aircon?

SPECIFICATIONS..jpgThis is why you putup decent information. Note the diferent ratings, & this particular unit uses a Rotary compressor which is easy to start.

why should a picture make a difference. a 2.2kw honda generator, will it power a 2.2 kw air con Because - A 2.2kW generator may not deliver 2.2kW on a continuous basis and might be a miss-named KVA rating AND a kW rating is not all that relevant for an appliance running an AC motor AND the rating of a air-conditioner may refer to the heating or cooling capacity rather than the actual electrical load - or it may not. Best way is to borrow a generator and try it out

Yes, it will with no problem.  My own 2.2 kw air con relates to amount of cool air generated this ought to be shown in BTU, instead of confusing  the matter kw. This equals to about 5000-5500 BTU. Actual power draw by this air con will be about 490  to 500W And I did run it on the 800W generator, if I didn't use other appliances, except only one little fridge, all was good.
