Very sad state of affairs.

Just arrived at Greens Lake, Thursday  2.30pm

I could cry, really I could.

Bollards 1 metre apart from the channel right through to the other end of camping area. To make matters worse in most place it is on the line of where we camped so it's just a dirt roadway for traffic next to bollards.

In other places, for instance down by the channel, the bollards cut off the camping completely with large areas being unable to get to.

When I asked the lovely guys doing the installing, they said You camp up on the hill side eg slope, away from the water.

He also said the channel has now been blocked off so no water can come through to Lake.

By next year unless there's some good rain, it will be dry, he said.received_407668774016866.jpegreceived_410013296719610.jpeg20201217_142340.jpg20201217_142149.jpg20201217_142136.jpg20201217_135450.jpg20201217_135455.jpg

H.W., What does the sign at end say? Unless it says no camping, etc. Why couldn't you (all of us) just back up to bollards and allow traffic to go past on the bare areas in front?

I didn't take much notice. Has been there a long time, will be something to do with what you can and can't do.
I can imagine you could park hard against the bollards but with awning, seating etc on the other side.
The trouble is with that idea if we get heavy rain that dirt gets slippery and we're stuck.
I prefer to park on the grass.

I can see people going on the sand via launching ramp and setting up on the sand. You know what their like HW.

Doug, the bollards go down both sides of the boat ramp. When its finished nobody will be able to get on the sand.
You will be interested to know your park you shared with Dave is no more.
The bollards go right through the middle leaving very little green to park on.

Sad Marg, very sad. A great place changed for the worse. At least like you, I have great memories of Greens and many friendships formed. Some life long.

It will be interesting how many use Greens over the next month and if they still close the doors for new year.

Seems a waist now all the effort and cost in the great new amenity block.

Oh well. I can remember the good times by looking through all the pics I have.

I feel sorry for the small towns we all spent money in. I know just myself, spent heaps locally. They will miss out now.

Keep Safe Marg.

Looks like a 7 day camping limit will be imposed!

That's the end to the regular long stayers feeding the local economies.

Why would a Water Authority wish to destroy one of the most sought after camp sites in Victoria.

Maybe because it is one of the most sought after camp sites is the reason that a 7 day limit will be imposed.

When the lake turns into a swamp (remember Lake Cooper next door being the Victorian Ski Centre, now a swamp no ) then very, very few locals and Grey Nomads will frequent the "swamp".

The lake has already been drawn down by approx. 30% and dropping further. disbelief

The past high water level in the lake has been the drawcard for visitors, both local and interstate. no

Thanks for putting that link up, Kebbin

I noticed that it said to social distance, due to the current coronavirus restrictions

If I remember correctly one Easter weekend, I went in to say goodbye to some friends
I counted just under/over 200 rigs, and I did not count the tents, which had been erected for rellies/children/friends etc

I hope that this Easter sees us free of Covid-19, as there will be less parking spaces available

I have had a thought

Yes I have already been told, (many times), that if I had half a brain, I would be dangerous

If the water does rise in the lake, could we plant some grass seeds, and water that ground by either hand or 12 volt

My theory is, that some of the water used for watering the grass, will eventually get back to the lake, as the ground slopes towards the lake
