The fishermen could not sell at first, then the Japanese discovered we had them, did the price take off. The one in picture was about 45 cm across body. The main arms are about as big as your wrist.
When we were kids our Dad used to take us camping down at Huskisson on Jervis Bay NSW.
There was always talk of a giant crab which was mounted on the wall above the bar in the Huskisson Pub.
After a lot of pleading my Dad organised with the publican for me to go into the bar with him to see the crab. (Kids werent allowed in public bars in those days).
I havent been to Huskisson for 30 years and often wonder if it is still there.
