That was a good article, Mike. So thanks for putting it up
My short answer is that
Yes, happiness for me, is all its copped up to be
My long answer is that
What the article did not seem to touch on, was that we are all different
Because we are all different, we probably define happiness, in many different ways
My definition of happiness, is when I have adapted, to whatever situation, I find myself in, then I am happy with my lot
As a footnote
Perhaps I should be grateful, because some do say, that simple minds, only require simple pleasures
Looking back through life, I can not remember having actually pursued happiness, as it has always been there, lurking somewhere in the background
I was fascinated by the result that 81% of people would rather be happy than "achieve great things". Although I have know a couple of people who did achieve great things and neither of them were really happy.
Also I'm not sure what the dividing line between happiness and contentment is; I do know, for sure, that the pursuit and/or acquisition of wealth does not generate happiness. I also know that after two years living alone in a caravan in the bush I am happier/more content now that at any other time in my life.
