Now just think of the logic in this. 3 day lockdown because of the danger. OK fair enough. But it doesn't start until 6pm. So everyone in Brisbane is now packing their bags to head for the Sunshine or Gold coast. Or anywhere you want to name. So if I've got a headache, cough or snotty nose I'm off. Off to spread it elsewhere.

Where's the logic? Does anyone else see the lack of logic in locking down almost 3 million people in 10 hours time? Like leaving the gate of the prison open for a few hours and thinking no inmate will escape.

I just let my cousin know in England who is actually Australian. She is letting her daughter know in Brisbane. Maybe she will be part of the exodus & come down & stay with us in Sydney!

These things are moving targets. They may have just said 3 days to soften the blow, but have the intention of a longer period.

People would have gone to work etc this morning before the lock down was announced.

They have to be able to return home, which they wouldn't be able to do if the lock down started as soon as it was announced.

Heard the news, was at shops by 9 am. Its raining. Just bought what we were going to buy today anyway. Same as usual but by the time we left the shop was getting pretty crowded. Now 10.30 and my kids just told me they cannot even get a car park at The  shops. oh the joys. Glad i am older and not working, raising a family and dealing with covid. It would be very hard for mums n dads.

Well it appears that every case of outbreak of this disease in Australia since the end of November 2020 has been directly related to the positive cases being held in Quarantine and transferred by people who are tasked with attending to, cleaning their quarters, transporting them or supervising their stay.

Although it is a simple no brainer to stop all international travel this is not going to happen as per our Prime Ministers recent speech on Ch 9 just an hour ago.
All our state and federal leaders have, this morning attended a meeting or conference to assess and discuss the situation.
International travel will continue and the PMs reason for this is that we need people with special skills and a miriad of other excuses or reasons to enter the country.
I would like to ask how he is going to enforce mask wearing on an aircraft where he has no jurisdiction to provide enforcement.
Could we trust the airlines?
No, I dont think so, as I remember the fiasco when the airline people permitted passengers to disembark before security to redirect passengers was in place. This was only last year, April or May from memory.
How sure are we are all going to be in Australia that every person who is coming into Australia has had a covid test prior to travel?

There was a case just recently where it was found that covid negative report certificates were being issued in other countries for travellers without any test at all. This fact alone is quite alarming.

While mask wearing is strongly suggested, it appears that it is not mandated as was obvious at the test cricket in Sydney yesterday as tv coverage clearly showed many who totally disregarded this direction. If it was a rule for the cricket then it clearly wasnt being enforced.

I found it interesting that the PM actually praised the Premier of Qld for how she has locked down the Brisbane areas of concern.
Unfortunately his praise was directed more at the period of three days rather than the lockdown itself.
While I hope the 3 day period prevents the spread and provides a period of a 100% tracing success, I will be very surprised if it does as do many others.

Unfortunately we are all co habitating this country with people who really have no respect for their fellow countrymen and soft suggestions arent going to work.

Making these suggestions law will not be popular but if we must tolerate a constant flow of people bringing the disease into Australia then we deserve, at the very least, strict control.

Regards

Angie

Singing from a different script.

Last July in relation to Victoria:

Mr Morrison noted that Sydney would be under lockdown if it followed Mr Andrews' road map. 'What I can't help but be struck by is that, under the thresholds that have been set in that plan, Sydney would be under curfew now,' he said.

I think that our PM is happy and relieved that at least up until now, NSW has dodged the bullet and he is taking joy to put it on the other premiers that Gladys has done such a marvelous job.

I guess considering that they are closely allied politically this is to be expected.

It may become embarrassing if NSW does lose the battle and ends up like Victoria was during last year.

All other comments aside, the problem area is in hotel quarantine, followed by the lack of travel restrictions and the lack of consideration for others. Some states seem to handle these aspects of control better than others.

In any case the people of Brisbane will be restricted for the next three days with the results reassessed after that period and masks being mandatory means that there will be penalties if this is not adhered to.

By the same logic, you should be agitating for a total ban on driving cars as that would save hundreds of lives. Ban smoking and the saving might be thousands, ban drinking and thousands more saved.

 Hi Tony LEE,

Hardly the same logic but you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
