Hi Dorian, thanks for putting the link to the article up

I would have thought that due to Covid-19, being associated with bats

The only way to touch a bat, would be from the very end, of a long handle shovel

Australian bats don't carry the Covid-19 virus. Any association is myth. Like other mammals (including humans) they do carry some coronavirus forms but none are life-threatening. Lyssavirus is transmitted though bites and that's why contact should be avoided. Hendra virus shouldn't be an issue with a vaccine available to equine owners. Nothing wrong with bats per se and humans gain more from bats than they might stand to lose.

Thanks for that info, dabbler

I will have a good day today, as I have learned something new

I had assumed that bats were bats, I now know different, after a bit of research (err surfing the net)

As you have rightly pointed out, Australian bats will only be a problem, if they scratch or bite you

Then it would be prudent to get to the hospital, for a shot, just in case it was infected with lyssavirus
