"Three bats have tested positive to Australian lyssavirus in Queensland in recent weeks, prompting health officials to renew their warnings not to handle injured animals."

Australian bats don't carry the Covid-19 virus. Any association is myth. Like other mammals (including humans) they do carry some coronavirus forms but none are life-threatening. Lyssavirus is transmitted though bites and that's why contact should be avoided. Hendra virus shouldn't be an issue with a vaccine available to equine owners. Nothing wrong with bats per se and humans gain more from bats than they might stand to lose.
