NSW Camera (Safety?????)

Image may contain: text that says "Update: A majority of the new Unmarked Mobile Speed Camera Vehicles will be large 4 door utes with the camera system hidden in the tray covered by a canopy. They will be all sorts of colours and makes. The system has already started and will have up to 150 units by mid this year."

These are not manned by Police - They are privately owned (Maquarie Bank) revunue raisers.

In the meantime there are potentially 27,000 avoidable deaths in hospitals in Australia each year.

Actual total road deaths in Australia 1,249 during 2020  Australia - number of road deaths by state 2020 | Statista

Notwithstanding - one per year is too many (unless we can get all the Politicians) - My point in putting up the original post is to make everyone aware this is not a NSW Police initiative.

Don't know, I've never had one. I imagine they would be processed at a NSW Government office similar to Police originated penalties.

It appears that Macquarie Bank is taking over the present company Redflex.

Thee cameras have been around for years in some form or another. My golden rule is that if something is parked on the side of the road SLOW DOWN. Not that I ever speed. :)

Exactly right bgt contract technicians have been operating these type of vehicles for years. The only changes I can see is there will be more of them, they won't be painted so they stand out and the signs that warn people they are approaching a radar will be removed. According to the RTAs website it's being done to bring NSW into line with what the other states are already doing. Stick to the speed limit when driving in NSW and you won't have to worry about them...

But this a step to pure revenue raising , if you see a Police Car, 1st thing you do is double check the speedo, but get a ticket 3- 4 weeks later only lightens the pocket.

I concur with you bgt. When I see the car on the side of the road, I check my speedo just in case.

I can always tell when a driver regularly speeds...as they always put the brakes on near speed traps...even when they are already going under the speed limit!
