You know... I rather think I shall buy one to fly in future years.

Anyone know where I can buy one *not* made in China?

Free flags are available by requesting one thru your Federal Member or the states federal Senators. They get an allocation of 50? every year.

Just to clarify, Schools & Community groups get first bit of the cherry.

I love the creative way people can fly the flag and make a statement at the same time. 15 flags flying in my street. Three modified by replacing the Union Jack in the corner with the Aboriginal Flag.

Flying the flag years ago wasn't necessary and in fact, wasn't displayed much except in official ceremonies. The way it was treated was a sign of respect in those days Everyone knew what and who it represented. No draping it around the shoulders of some athlete, displayed carelessly all over the place and no burning and dragging in the dirt over some nationalist scuffle. My dad would have been horrified.

I am in accordance with your Dad - As a Flag Officer in a previous life and a member of Australian National Flag Association I cringe at some "displays".

Seems the people who modify or disrespect our flag have no problems accepting the many benefits Australia offers, in fact I'm pretty sure most of them know full well how to work the system.

I'm Australian and proud of the fact.smile

I spent a great 2018 Australia Day in Oman with a group of Aussie mates we proudly flew the flag and did all the usual things that we would have done here on Australia day. Behind us are the Strates of Hormuz with Iran and Pakistan just over the horizon we felt pretty safe where we were but I baulked at the idea of driving around town with the Aussie flags flying from the car windows.

I only fly the OZ flag at the front of the aluminium teepee on a telescopic pole, BB. Never on the car.

The flag is up whenever staying more than 3 days in one place. I have been known to stand under it giving a minutes silence on Anzac and Remembrance Day's and also on the day of a funeral at the time of the service of good friends if I can't be there. So it's not just used on Australia Day.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

This may offend some but offence is not intended.

I only recognize one flag as being the flag of our nation, and that is our current flag.

I object and offended by the 2 flags of appeasement which divide our nation, as we the people were never given the right to approve of deny their acceptrance by way of a vote.

Agreed.

The Aboriginal flag is a political and activist statement only - there were many Aboriginal tribes and they certainly were never united.

What narks me the most about the Aboriginal flag is that it is privately owned. So where are those who object to that?
