This question is for the Prostatectomy club members amongst us.
I'm still pulling 0.00 for my PSA readings after 18 months and kicking goals again. However I need weekly injections, and daily tablets to keep the blood flowing to the important bits down below.
Yesterday's invoice from my compounding chemist was $325.00 for Item NO's: 1290A and 6666A which my current health insurance co does not cover.
So the question is: Is there a Health Insurance provider that allows you to claim for my medication?
I will look forward to suggestions/recommendations thank you.
Whilst not a member of your "Club", may I suggest that you speak to your GP or specialist regarding substitution of your medications to some PBS approved.

There are medications that are not on The PBS , so you pay whatever they want to charge or go without if you dont have the wherwith all. I would imagine with a compounding chemist it is a special recipie that would have bugger all chance of being listed. Lot of drugs made by companies are not listed either for many reasons even when they do work for you.
Hetho, maybe try a different compounder for a quote, your item numbers didnt come up on a search for me.
Some good advise and suggestions from you all; and thank you.
Im still trying to find a Health Ins. Co that will cover my item numbers. My meds are an injection directly into "old mate" so it is a compounding chemist item and not something with and equivelent in the PBS.
I was thinking that I'm not alone here and one of our members has managed to claim similar with there Health Ins. Co.
Thanks Craig, I haven't been able to find them either. However, there is always tomorrow.
Hetho, I had a bill sent to me from a Pathology Lab for a routine PSA test normally covered by Medibank - I spoke to my Doctor and he arranged it to be covered owing to a "Family History" - my point is GP's can sometimes get around the Medibank bear traps, have a word to him/her nothing ventured nothing gained.
